Please give Patty, the new (old) LocknLock rep some training on pronunciation.  Every time she mentioned the steam escaping tonight on ITKWD, she kept pronouncing it ekscaping.

The word is ESCAPE ... ESSSSSSS CAPE.  Not EKSCAPE.

David did try to guide her to the correct pronunciation at one point but the next time she said it alone, there was that K again.

It's almost as bad as nails on a chalkboard.

Nope, nope, nope.......

I'm not gonna knitpick one word in her presentation. She has a lot going on taking over this position & filling the shoes of the much-loved Chris.

I'm gonna cut her some slack because I'm sure it's not always easy.

You have a right to your opinion & I'm sorry it bothers you so much but personally there are bigger things going on that I will stress about.

I can honestly say I've never heard nails on a chalkboard.  Life goes on.

I would never understand why some Posters think that everyone should pronounce words the same. Doesn't it depend on which part of the Country you're from?

no. There are certainly some regional colloquialisms. And different accents. But mispronunciation of a word is a different thing. There is a trend to excuse bad grammar and mispronounced words by saying they are regional differences. Your old English teacher would highly disagree I'm sure.

If anyone heard me pronounce words selling something on QVC they would be appalled and start threads about the horrible way I say things.

I consider myself an educated individual but I grew up in Pittsburgh.  For those that don't know, there is a distinct accent and words used in that area.

I left the city many years ago but that accent and word pronunciation will never change.

That said, I would give someone a pass on pronunciation of words.

Re: Proper Pronunciation

[ Edited ]

There are MANY "regional dialects" in the United States...I am originally from the City of Chicago, and still sound like it.

By the way, that is pronounced "Shuh Caw Go"

You come to a board to post for the first time to criticize and put someone down about how she pronounces one word?

Many different pronunciations in our country. Some always think they are the only ones who are right. Pronounce words the way you want to. Everyone else will do the same.

@Sage04 NO. The word is not "excape" and anyone with a job on tv needs to know the difference. No excuse for this one.
