I only have a paper checkbook now for those who insist on getting a paper check. I still give checks for a gift occasionally and my trash company just recently switched to being able to pay online.
Just the thought of a check possibly getting lost in the mail (I have had my share of items lost or received very late by USPS) has made me switch to paying everything online. It's so much easier and I feel that I have better control of my funds.
In the rare occasion that some gives me a check I just use my phone to deposit it rather than going to the bank to do so.

@ruthbe Some of my family live in Australia. They were here this summer to visit. When they saw me pay for an item with cash they said you still use cash? All they use there are credit cards, no cash or checks. They said they do keep a bit of cash but rarely need to use it. I didn't tell them I also write checks for some of my bills.
@proudlyfromNJ I use cash for tips and when I go out to lunch with friends rather than each of us pay with a cc. What do they use to tip people?

I think the biggest issue with making cash obsolete is that everything could be tracked and maybe one just doesn't want everything that they do to be tracked. It also gives too much control to the powers that be rather than the average consumer.
Imagine being out somewhere and you suddenly couldn't use your card because of an error or worse? At least with cash one could buy some basics.

@haddon9 I did ask that he said they all use their own cc. I asked many questions and there always was an answer at least most of the time. Sometimes it didn't make sense to me as I really couldn't imagine the 'no cash' thing.

Tipping isn't a thing in Australia like it is here.

I have to wonder what the credit card interest rates will be when we go to a cashless society. They'll have all the power then. It will be -- pay it off monthly, or you're in trouble fast.
Plus, many are not even wanting credit cards. They want debit cards. I fear that's the face of the future. While the banks have lousy security. One of mine has thrown me deep into the dark web. Fun times!
T-Mobile raised my auto payment b/c I wouldn't switch from credit to debit card. And, T-Mobile has been hacked too many times to count. Really!
I pay most bills online, but still pay a couple of bills by check and will only use cash for some things, like gas.
I have a retired detective friend who has warned me about using a card for gas. They have hundreds a month, of filed claims of card hacking at gas stations and some other common places. I often go to lunch with his wife and she only pays for cash for gas, dining out, etc.
Days in the past purchasing and paying bills by check was never a problem. Now I feel I almost need a secretary to monitor all the issues that I have to check every darn day, waiting for someone to have fun with my identity.
I love the ease of use of cards, but I don't love what's happening. I miss easier times. And, sadly, it's only going to get worse.

With most CCs f you pay off your balance every month you won't be charged interest, QVC would have the details specifically for their card.
Talbots CC has special discounts for certain sales. However their interest is about the same as QVC's. The manager suggests to customers when using their Talbot's card at the point of sale when buying the item with the special CC promotion to then use your debit card and pay off the balance. This can all be done at the Talbot's terminal at check-out.
No interest charged.
As for checks they are dangerous, it's assumed online is less safe, checks can be washed, lost, etc.

I just paid my property taxes today via check No Cash Accepted.. I don't write alot of them.
A few small businesses like Nail Salon and my Hairdresser are cash or check to save CC business costs in my small town. Adopting a dog at my Shelter also to save costs is cash or check. Charities sometimes take CC but extra fees to cover costs.

I got an email last week from Synchrony they will not longer snail mail my Lowes statements with out a $1.99 fee.
That was enuf for me to sign up for paperless, which I do NOT like. I get SOOOO many emails, it can get lost or forgotten easily.....however, I will not pay a paper fee.
Considering Synchrony also runs QVC, HSN, Amazon and other cards besides Lowes.....I betcha they will follow.
Don't like it but for the principle....I will not pay a fee for them to give me my bill!!!
Those of you without printers.....better come up with a way or be prepared to pay paper fees for your HSN and QVC credit cards......they will undoubtable follow....

I still send checks in the mail....and the last two months they have said they have not received them...hence making my life stressful. After many calls and then having to pay for stopping my check and QVC dunning my account, I have had enough! Both times the check was already there and somehow overlooked etc. They did take off the $30 late fee thankfully.
Thanks, I guess I needed to blow off some steam, and I know how I want to go forward with my money.
Have a great day and wonderful year ahead.
ALL CARDS have incredibly HIGH interest rates!!!!!
Don't buy more than you can pay off every month. Amex, MC, Visa....ALL crazy high!!!
Don't blame QVC or Synchrony the card holder if the postal system lost your checks.
