Would it be possible to "explode" the My Favorite Brand listings so all are visible along with the other forums? I think it was that way on the old boards. It would greatly help to direct traffic to the correct forum. Thanks.

@MaggieMack wrote:To save some space, you could shorten the two topics that currently take up two lines (Linea and Logo). Thanks.
I don't favor this part of the suggestion.
I don't care to read anything about Linea and probably vice versa from the Linea people, so if LOGO threads have to be in a subforum, I'd rather not sort through those.

@Pearlee, I should have stated it more clearly. Keep Linea in its forum. Keep Logo in its forum. Just shorten the names so each doesn't take up two lines like they now do. Two subforums, two lines instead of the current four.

For me there are already way too many sub-topics. Maybe once every other month I might click into a sub-topic, but for the most part, I don't even look at that long left-hand column. Make it longer and it's even less worth my sorting through. If there's something worth my time, I assume it will show up in the main listings. That's been working for me except for the very few times when I'm searching for something. Even then an extra click or two isn't all that annoying.

@MaggieMack I don't understand. On my screen they each only have one line, which is why it sounded like you wanted them combined. This is what I see:

Oh, I have an iPad, set to Medium text, and it takes two lines. Have never gone to the forums on my desktop computer. In any event, I think the one word names would suffice.

@MaggieMack Would you please go in and edit your first post, so that it is clear to the Mods - in case they only read the first post and not the rest - that you didn't mean to combine Linea and Logo? Thanks.

Done. Eliminated any brand references since screens appear different on the various devices. Asking for the topic expansion should be clear enough.

As most of you probably know, the My Favorite Brand forum was created around June 21st which was about a week after the June 15th new forum structure had been set up.
At the time there was a huge uproar in regard to a number of specific forums and sub-forums that had been eliminated.
__
From what I remember (and it's all a little vague), at first we were told that it was not possible to revise the forum structure: that this was going to be the forum structure going forward. Needless to say, a lot of people were very upset and very vocal about this issue.
It sounded as though QVC's new forum structure (created by their technical IT department) could not accommodate sub-forums within a larger forum. -- As it turns out, clearly that isn't the case If you click on the My Favorite Brand, you are able to read all of the various forum posts from all of those forums.
In any case, about a week after the June 15th new forums launch, I think the QVC mods realized that this issue wasn't going to go away until they made some really quick, creative modifications to their new forum structure.
And that was how the My Favorite Brand forum got quickly cobbled together.
__
I'm a Wen hair care girl, and so I was watching the new forum restructure discussion very closely. What I noticed was that there were two groups of folks who were really, really very very angry that their forums had been dismantled: the Wen girls and the Linea ladies. -- The Linea and Wen folks both posted their displeasure to the max in the Suggestion Box forum and very quickly got the attention of the mods.
Honestly, I think the combined Linea & Wen voices played a big part in having the My Favorite Brand forum created. -- And if your look through the My Favorite Brand forums, you will see that the two really active sub forums are both the WEN forum (24 forum pages) and the Linea by Louis Dell'Olio forum (14 forum pages).
__
I'm not quite sure as to how the decisions were made, as to which other forums to include within the My Favorite Brand forum, but a number of them have very little activity and others only have sporadic activity:
* little activity -- Laura Geller -- Quacker Factory
* less than one page (averaging around 20 total threads) -- Carolyn Pollack -- Denim & Co -- Isaac Mizrahi Live! -- LOGO by Lori Goldstein -- Susan Graver
* less than 2 pages of total activity -- bareMinerals -- Dooney & Bourke -- Temp-tations
* somewhat more active (periodic activity), averaging 3-4 total pages of activity -- Judith Ripka -- Nick Chavez -- philosophy
* extremely active -- Linea by Louis Dell'Olio -- WEN
__
Based on this general lack of activity, I think it would be great if the QVC moderators could take another look at the forums restructuring.
Personally, since sub-forums are clearly possible -- as shown by the My Favorite Brand forum -- I'd like to ask the moderators if they consider adding some sub-forums to the various forums. I'm not suggesting that they add a lot of sub forums... just a few of the more popular ones so they could take a look at how this impacts the overall forum structure.
I have a feeling that some of the sub-forums currently in the My Favorite Brand forum would be more active if they were sub-forums within their main category forum (i.e. make Isaac Mizrahi a sub-forum with the Fashion forum).
I also think that some of the current lines in particular forums would really benefit from having sub-forums within a particular main forum.
In the Jewelry forum, for example, I'd appreciate having them reinstate the Honora sub-forum. I used to really enjoy reading through the Honora sub-forum, although I rarely posted to it. While it didn't have the activity of a Wen or Linea forum, people posted to it on a daily basis. I know that I really appreciated getting the advance info on upcoming Honora special items from the forum. Now that the Honora sub-forum is gone I've lost my info source, which means that I make almost no Honora purchases.
__
As an extremely interested participant in this current discussion (I'm a Wen girl), I'd like to recommend (and beg) that both WEN and the Linea by Louis Dell'Olio sub-forums be left as they are. Or, maybe even better, just eliminate the My Favorite Brand forum and give each of these two brands their own distinct main forum that can be seen in the current forums listings. -- Since we are only talking about two forums, I don't think this addition would overwhelm the forum structure.
There are two reasons that I think the WEN and the Linea by Louis Dell'Olio sub-forums should each continue to have their very own forums:
1) They are each extremely popular forums and so generate a very large number of their own posts. -- As a Wen girl, I remember the continual ittitation that occurred when the Wen forum was a sub-forum within the Beauty forum. On a very regular basis, we would receive a number of very irritated posts (posted in the Wen sub-forum) from Beauty forum members about how there were too many Wen posts in the Beauty forum. -- Creating separate Wen (and probably Linea) would simply eliminate that coutinual source of irritation.
2) In the particular case of Wen, as the moderators well know, there is a lot of friction on the Beauty forum when it comes to discussing Wen. Allowing Wen to have it's own separate forum has helped to keep that friction to a minimum. Blending the Wen forum back into the Beauty forum would create a really combustible mix.
__
If the moderators do decide to take another look at a sub-forum restructure...
I would ask that it is done in such a way as that, in particular, the new forums and sub-forums are able to take their individual thread with them. -- In particular, since the creation of the My Favorite Brand sub-forums on June 21st, for Wen that would be around 700 new threads and for Linea that would be around 400-500 new threads.
__
I'd appreciate it if we could get some feedback on this from the QVC moderators. Since they are both listed as "Admin", I'm sending notifications to both @Keyai and @Eva-QVC. ![]()
Thank you both, in advance, for taking the time to to look at our various questions, ideas and requests around this issue.
