Re: Question for Mod's?

[ Edited ]

If only people who say they are going to avoid someone stick to their word about it!  But more often than not, they don't. It's usually just empty promises.

Hello Beautiful,

I looked under "Standards" so I did not see what you sent us.  It does say that we can only have 1 email address and 1 screen name.  I still don't understand how one person could have multiples.

I will read "Get Started" which I haven't done because I got started several years ago and have long breaks due to health and vision problems.

Thank you,

Cat

For example, a person could use a spouse's or friend's.  Or a person can register from work (different IP address) and set up a different account.  I suppose there are other ways too I haven't thought of, since I only have one account.  but it would be easy to use someone else's account who is living in the same household I would think.

Am I the only one who sniffs some particular hypocrisy posted here?

Anyhoo, why don't we let QVC and their mods decide just what to remove and who to ban and not worry about any of this?

The vast majority of posters come here for fun and relaxation, not for being scolded or told what to do by others who themselves are less than perfect.

In other words, lighten up, for goodness' sake.

@suzyQ3. I agree. It's only a message board on a tv shopping site. I almost liked the old board better. Mods were behind the scenes and poofed away with no one able to question them and expect answers.

Hello @Jackhound Mom!

I'm sorry you had health and vision problems and hope you're better now.💕

You're welcome. The first quote I posted is directly from "Standards".

Hello again Beautiful,

Gosh, I guess I'm having an off day.  Thank you, I am older and the nerve injury I have in my face will always flair up.  I do enjoy reading and writing here and it does take my mind off the pain.

Trying to understand how Mod's work.  Thanks to everyone who has patience with an old timer.

@suzyQ3  Well since you asked,  I see (not sniff) hypocrisy since I think telling people to "lighten up, for goodness' sake" is  scolding.   So we are being scolded not to scold.  OK.......

I don't think it's my--or any other poster's job to monitor these boards. I something is truly inappropriate (lewd comments, bad language, etc), that's one thing. But to use that function simply to knock off a poster one disagrees with is overstepping the bounds.

Let the moderators do their job and quit micromanaging! Geesh! I'd hate to be in your company for very long.

I'm sorry but that is a question my 5 yr old would have asked.  It never occurred to me to be concerned about another poster's ability to post or not post.

No. Some posters are repeat offenders...almost 2 or 3 times a week. If they are constantly reported by other posters, I think they should lose their posting privileges for a few days until they learn to play nicely.

It's not that simple. At all.

What any given individual thinks is "unkind" may very well not be considered so by the moderators or other posters.

There definitely are posters who frequently report the posts of people they just don't like, never mind if the posts are actually against forum guidelines or not.

Just because a post or thread is reported doesn't make it a true black mark. For those who feel that # of times a poster is reported (vs deleted) should be a criterion - better hope you don't ever acquire an enemy who starts reporting your posts for no reason other than they don't like something you said.

Posters do lose posting privileges for times ranging from a few days, to months. That stops no one who is determined to carry on. That's why there are periodic showers of "new" posters trashing away.

Lastly, the way the moderation works most of the time, with some exceptions of course, is that individual posts are removed, and most of the time only individual posts and instances are taken note of, i.e. there's no Black Book, no cumulative "record" that multiple moderators share with each other.

The times I've seen anything else is when a new poster starts multiple posts in multiple areas that are clearly all highly inappropriate in one way or another. Or, a known poster just goes off the deep end and starts spewing highly inapproriate posts in multiple areas, starting a new thread each time the moderators delete one of theirs, over and over. Those people get banned, locked out for a time, etc within their short "rampage" time.  But any of them can come back and be shiny-new in 5 min if they have a mind to.
