@Zefra  I am 100% with you on always making informed purchases on every item.  However, your many posts on this subject neglect to mention that the TSV has 4 different side dishes, with only one containing the carrageenan ingredient.  I'm not defending Martha's TSV meal, just asking to shed light on the entire subject matter.

I checked, the Spinach casserole has carrageenan, none of the other three sides have it.  Since the TSV includes only two of the side dishes, folks can avoid that ingredent entirely, if they choose.

As for researching carrageenan, it's probably best to do so without the leading other words like "known inflammatory." There are several reputable articles on the different types of carrageenan out there and the varying medical facts associated with it.  Folks can then decide for themselves.

But overall, thank you.  It was good to see this thread and research more of this for myself so I can make my own decision with thorough information.

Of course the cost will be less if you shop for and prepare a similar meal to the TSV. Time is money, and this meal is prepared for you and shipped to your door. It's a fair deal for the many people who want to host a holiday meal and have neither the time, skill and even an adequate kitchen to prepare a meal like the TSV.

There is certainly a market for the TSV. Not for me, but for many people.

It's a good thing...

Well if you heve no space to cook a turkey breast or skill in the kitchen chances are maybe its a good idea not to be hosting a holiday

My suggestion was to search Carrageenan known inflamatory (no quotation marks)

which brings a top 10 search results from Dr. weil to other very credible agencies & organizations.  I did not recommend reading the one article, but suggested reviewing

"at least" the top 10 results before making an informed decision.

You and I have every right to eat what we want. Another great benefit of living in this countrySmiley Happy  However, as ingredients keep appearing in foods that previously did not contain them, and more and more people are getting stomach ailments and autoimmune diseases, it's a good to question to ask: "are our bodies meant to digest these ingredients or are we ingesting them because they happen to be included into a product

that's easy to prepare." Before you make a final decision please do one more google search:

carrageenan used in lab rats

Read those search results from our most respected medical institutions. They are enlightening!

Try and eat whole foods and be healthy. Take care!

I used to go to The Four Seasons restaurant for Thanksgiving and usually paid about $180.00 or so just for my portion of the meal.

So, if I had people for Thanksgiving I would possibly order this TSV.  It's done and probably very good.

@JobGirl: I respectfully disagree with your reply to my post.

I did not say NO skill or NO room to cook a Thanksgiving meal. Besides, none of us was born knowing how to prepare, cook and serve Thanksgiving dinner. We all had to start somewhere. The TSV makes it a little easier for many. If you want to and can afford the TSV- why not? Most people I know are intimidated to cook a Turkey dinner, even for 4-8 people. If this works for them- great.

I would be happy to attend Thanksgiving dinner with people who are hosting for the first time. In fact, that's just what I plan to do! Newlyweds who want to bring their families together and not have to choose between them.

Finding fault and being negative: no special skills needed.

I'm hosting my annual Friends-giving on November 11 and purchased this for that occasion. Not having to deal with a whole turkey and having a jump start on some side dishes will make the day less stressful for me. To me, the convenience is worth every bit of $100.

I can buy much cheaper bath soap than Philosophy shower gel too, but it's my money and I spend it.

@gizmogal What I find is the statement "feed as many as 8-12 people" to be questionable.  My TD table will have 12 people including 3 very hungry young men lol.  They alone would probably inhale 4 lbs. of turkey.  "-)

SERIUOSLY???

There really must be some people out there that really really hate to cook a holiday dinner!! It's a holiday... everyone helping out in the kitchen, making a few messes or mistakes - it's all good!! Even if I was by myself - I would make a game hen with a side or two, a couple glasses of wine and watch  a football game or a favorite movie.

I think holiday evening cleanup services should be offered.in your area ... now, that I might be willing to pay for 😀!!! ( OMG - that would be fabulous, wouldn't it?!!?).

The added cost of shipping is what makes it 100.00.....nothing is free, the cost is rolled into the price. Hope everyone who orders enjoys.

My kitchen is too small for everyone to help out. I want to have a relaxing evening with my friends. I can afford it, why not?

It's not about hating to cook or not having the skill, I can afford the convenience and that's worth it to me.
