I love laundry & cleaning. Sometimes my daughter comes over with a stain & I (most times get it out) I take a whole day for laundry. I have to be in the mood for cooking since just 2 of us I end up freezing leftovers. I enjoy reading this thread to get ideas. My MIL was old school Italian and what a cook. I told her to write down recipes but she never had one just feel. I don't live back east anymore & relatives still do Feast of Seven Fishes but family has gotten smaller. Pooky1 do you do the huge Thanksgiving dinner? Italian Thanksgiving is escrole soup, pasta, meatballs, turkey & sides, then salad (always salad at the end) wait an hour desserts. It's a 4 hr dinner.

@Pooky1  After decades, I told DH he could be of help if he would wash his underwear, two different loads, so he now does that, works perfectly, he does it Sunday mornings before I am up, while he makes his marathon breakfast, lol.

My Mother used to make a cold marinated bean salad, delicious, but havn't had any in eons.  I remember green, yellow, and kidney beans, and thinly sliced red onion with a  marinade that had sugar,  vinegar, oil, salt/pep, and don't know what else..

I was so excited to hard boil eggs in the air fryer.  I put twelve in and set it for sixteen minutes as advised.  I took them out and plunged into ice water.  After they had cooled a bit, I took one and cracked it, soft boiled eggs!  I put them back for another five minutes, didn't work.  I can boil eggs for one minute on the stove, then let sit for eight-ten, then into ice water, much less electricity expended the old fashioned way, lol, so that is the way I will do it.

I opened two of the eggs this morning, put just the yolks and whites in a dish in the micro to warm, and had them on toast. Smiley Happy

@mousiegirl-------so was this air fryer, in general, a hit or a miss ?

I am so low tech that I don't have either a pressure cooker or a slow cooker.

Just real , real good pots, pans and skillets.......

@Pooky1-----I love that you love doing laundry and dishes......I HATE doing both. You should open a laundry/dish o'mat....call me customer #1 !

You guys had quite a feast.....I would be full for a week.

Sooooo.....my news is that I ended my relationship with DBF over our Pizza Hut feast. It is time for him (IMO) to find some permanency in his life and it's not me !

@sissel----glad you chimed in and please do so often....food doesn't necessarily have to be the topic.

@RedTop and @Winifred---- I wonder if either of you ever make a bad meal !

It is interesting to me that I've not seen a single thread on the meeting in Singapore.......probably the most important and potentially world altering event of our lifetime.

ETA----somewhere , sometime I have had bean salad... I think my Grandmother may have bought it in a jar--Hanover maybe ? I am going to buy a jar AND make it a la @mousiegirl.....sounds so delish !

Also want to make carrot salad and ambrosia salad.....tonight for dinner

linguini with white clam sauce.

@Danky  I LOVE ambrosia salad, for me, just pineapple, I think sour cream, don't remember if any sugar is used due to sweetness of everything else, marshmallows, and mandarin oranges, maybe coconut, do love coconut, no maraschino cherries for me.

Wolfgang's air fryer is a hit!  Beautiful roast chicken, if you follow my tip which I posted here, but I have only cooked a few things in it, am going to try sweet potato fries, have lots of them as I give them to my male every day to keep his a--l glands clear, works like a charm.  The girl gets a teeny bit, otherwise BIG trouble, lol.  To roast a chicken without having an oven on for an hour or more, makes it a big hit for me. If you would like to see recipes, go to amazon and look at Air Fry Everything and Air Fry Genius by Meredith Laurence, the Blue Jean Chef, you can "look inside," also Puck's book on HSN is very good.

I also can't wait t try a pork tenderloin, I usually grill it butterflied, but it cooks quickly so have to be careful.

Now you are as free as a birdie. Smiley Happy

I think the reason the Korea issue doesn't have a thread is because it is political.

Hotter than you know what here today in Sou Cal. Only getting worse and then guess what, gets cool again. Go figure.

Today was a horrible day - I am exhausted - need to get the kids baths and then hopefully BOTH will crash. Doubt it but will say a prayer.

Food has been a bit scarce today - like I said - not a good day - but the food was healthy I am the one who is really hungry at this point.

Winifred, I hope you're feeling well and today is a better day. I have been enjoying this same meal for at least a week now. It's a salad, fresh spinach...I bought a 5 pound bag, celery, carrots, scallions, jersey tomatoes, a variety of peppers, chick peas and grilled chicken...also I don't use dressing just pickle slices and the juice.  Normally my husband and I eat so differently, but he has been loving this ( he doesn't like pickles so he uses Thousand Island) . All I have been doing each day is grilling chicken breasts and chopping veggies for my meal prep.

I recently had a health scare, for 3 months every test on my bladder.. painful and scary. I just found out it is Irritable Bowel Syndrome. My insurance company doesnt cover a nutritionist, I'm doing my own research, I need to gain weight, every website says something different. Anyone know a thing about this? The doctor said to go to a nutritionist.

Re: What's Cooking in June 2018 - almost let it get by me - - - - -

@1905salad,

I suggest calling a registered dietician at your local hospital to ask if they can advise you on this.   The hospital I retired from provided these services free of charge.

I met with a dietician prior to both of my knee surgeries to insure I received the types of types of food I eat every day while I was an inpatient.   I feel sure the dietician would be able to guide you in the right direction towards the healthiest way to gain weight with your irritable bowel condition.   Best wishes to you!

Re: What's Cooking in June 2018 - almost let it get by me - - - - -

1905salad, good luck on gaining weight. I have been trying to do that for a good year now and cannot seem to get very far. have on occasion taking to eating candy bars - something I rarely ever did - that has not worked either. The body sure controls things to a great extince doesn't it? I do hope you find the magic ingredient for you!

Today is suppose to be even hotter than yesterday and then guess what, temps will drop again. Just miserable yesterday but what can I say. This is Sou Cal.

Tonight will probably clean out the Fridge again - Leah is going to a friends for a couple days and it will only be Ricky here. Davey of course. Ricky is such a concern - no one has figured out what his problem is, just breaks my heart, /but will try and still find something magical for him. He LOVES some of those kids meals which you find in the baby section of the grocery store - cannot think of the brand name but they come in a yellow small box - have two ingredients. He is especially fond of the one with green beans - his favorite food - and pasta stars with a sauce similar to spaghetti - always wants two of those meals and I do not have a one here - he just loves them. He also loves to eat cut apples - boy does he.

Hope all have a great day and eat well everybody.
