Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

Took my friend out for a LATE lunch. She was moved into assisted living from her gorgeous home by her kids with NO warning. She is so very unhappy and she is now stuck in one small bedroom - nothing else. She lived in a gorgeous Modular and had someone come in each day -that should have been continued. She is now 92 and is having more and more trouble being mobile but she is a social butterfly - give her credit. Still say she could have stayed in her beautiful home and had someone come in each day to help her - she could afford it but now they give her an allowance?? Do not get me started. At any rate she was thrilled and I had a Chile Relano with the usual beans and rice. She needed a hair net so on the way home stopped at the Drugstore and got her a package of three. She was so excited!!!!

So that was my lunch and dinner. course I just finished munching a cinnamon croissant - actually I ate two.

Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

Kids came home yesterday morning after church. They are rolling - miss them when they go away even for a day but must admit, sure enjoy the peace and calm. LOL.

VERY cold yesterday a.m. and also this a.m. Have had the heater going - now that is typical for this time of June.

Fixed an easy dinner last nite - Bagel Bites. Everyone seems to enjoy them and Ricky especially - well with the exception of Davey perhaps - he leads everyone in eating what I call junk food.

Brrrr. Now dinner for tonight? Something in the slow cooker for sure but not sure what yet - perhaps boneless chicken breasts - then add some goodies to it, like onion, garlic and a few other things.

In the meantime have a great day everyone.

Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

This coming weekend we will be in or near the 100's - that just figures. .

I did cook those boneless chicken breasts - all cut up - had a chopped onion in there with a head of cabbage and shortly before ending the cooking, sprinkled some dry Ranch dressing in it - very good. Also had macaroni salad and some good old baked beans.  Very tasty dinner and most all gone.

Pooky, your food sounded mighty good also - Love to see what others are eating.

Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

HOT tonight - not fair! REFUSE to turn the AC on however. Sigh.

Davey and I went to Corky's and had their Tues special, 4 tacos - delicious and quite different from any I have ever eaten, served with beans and rice. Had to bring two of my tacos home, not Davey however. Had coffee as a go with.

I think in a few minutes I am crashing - Sherry came by and picked up the two little ones - she and Matt wanted to have them for a day or so. And of course Kerry came along - she too loves those little ones. I really did not want to let the little girl go but decided why not. Ricky needed the peace and quiet - his Grandma Shannon goes overboard with the mouth and it just riles and revs him up - I cannot stop her.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

Surprise, surprise, I did NOT cook anything yesterday. Took a young girl trying to get her life back together somewhat to a neighboring town yesterday. She had to take care of some things - she has family but not one would help her. Grrrr. That was a 3 hour episode and she needs to spend about 2 more hours there but I could not stay any longer. Was exhausted just sitting and waiting on her by the time I got home. Just tried to help her get a hand up - only she, however, is responsible for getting back on track and staying there - we shall see.

Still have some food in the Fridge so may just get it all heated up for dinner tonight. Going to be another very hot day and in fact we have several hot days coming. The heater is getting turned off today - we will have some more chilly mornings and evenings but it needs to be shut off - it is time now as the frigid mornings are a thing of the past for some months to come. That does NOT mean the mornings will be warm - nope - right now am sitting here with my Slanket on and it feels good but that will last ONLY until the sun comes out. I can handle that.

Have a great day everyone - where are all of you hiding by the way.

Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

OK Pooky, what is bjs Cannot figure it out.

Used up some leftovers from the Fridge - not much left in there and that is very good.

Hotter than you know what today!!! Hope it is not too hot in the evening - we do have a few out here in the summer where it is really stuffy at nighttime. Do not know anyone out here who runs their AC in the nighttime. Well, at least my level of friends but suspect there are those with a lot of $$$ do it. Usually you actually do not need it at nighttime but there is a night here and there where it is miserable.

Hope all had a good day. Did take take care of my feathered friends - tomorrow will clean their birdbath.
