Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

I agree ladies, food prices are insane! I always go through the circular, see whats on sale, and plan accordingly around that. Even then, it's still expensive, especially if you have people who eat a lot!

Personally I can be happy eating the easiest thing, and I don't need much. The rest of the family is another story. I just barbequed some chicken and also made some chicken kabobs with onions and peppers for tomorrow while I was grilling. I am about to make some gluten-free chocolate cookies for my husband. I'm not looking forward to this, thats why I'm sitting here typing and procrastinating.

They also like mashed potatoes, so I'll make that too, tomorrow: leftovers for all!

Have a great day everyone. I stole away to the beach earlier with a good book, back to real life now.

Re: What's Cooking in June 2017

Last night, I grilled Asian marinated skirt steak, some of the free white corn on the cob from my produce market, and I made garlic fries, which were fantastic!  I blanch the fries in med hot oil, remove them, then just before serving, raise the heat and fry until crispy, makes them creamy inside, and crispy outside, then toss in a mix of minced garlic and flat leaf parsley with extra virgin olive oil, not too much, and salt, also salt the fries, and toss in a bowl, I use a lightweight bowl which makes tossing easier.
