Am consider purchasing an immersion blender.  I am thinking it would come in handy, but not necessarily a daily use appliance for me.  I probably would use it when making gravy, soups, meringues, apple sauce.

Would appreciate suggestions/recommendations.  I would like a quality product that has sufficient power.  Thank you.

I wish you lived near me....I would just give you mine. It's a Kitchenaid and has never been used. I purchased it a few years ago and never used it once.

I have two and use them often.  The original is a Cuisinart (inexpensive), that gets used for easy jobs like salad dressings.  It couldn't handle the soup purees without putting strain on the motor, so I purhased a more heavy duty All Clad for those jobs.  I find it much easier to use an immersion blender than to dump soup into a regular blender and then back into the pot.
