Temptations has a set of 16 piece dinnerware set (4 place settings) for $54.98.  I purchased it in the Woodland White.  It is a nice dinnerware set.   I like it a lot.  The item # is H248796.

@ScrapHappy where I live they have a store called Amazing Savings. They carry all kinds of merchandise at affordable prices. They do have dishes, but I want to buy something nice, I feel anything I get from Amazing Savings won't last very long.

My hairdresser bought a whole set of plates (service for 4) including dish towels, etc. from Dollar Tree for her daughter.  Sunflower pattern, her daughter loves sunflowers.  I've seen it in the store, this was a year or two ago, and it was nice.  But...I know what you mean.

Another vote for Corelle.  It's made in the USA, not China. I use Pyrex, corelle, even splurged for allclad cookware. All made in the USA.

@LizzieInSRQ ---I am a fiesta ware user too  and I only shop at Macys for them---but always wait for their sales and extra % off---just got a couple of the bowl plates, one lucheon size, that other in the dinner size, in the new pink, and with all the discounts and free shipping, both cost me under $25. Plus got them in a few days!!! Yes, prices are to the moon----

I still have my sets of Corelle from 1975--I have the navy border and white---have to say they have held up altho I now have fiestaware that I much prefer. Will donate the corelle when I can--reminds me of the "ex" as I got them as a wedding gift----not into anything that reminds me of him-----
