@Jordan2

Yes,  Corelle has two sizes of small bowls.  One is great for cereal and larger is great for microwaved frozen vegetables (gives you idea of size).  I have small bowls in round and square.  I think I bought set that had luncheon plates and dinner size.  I love them.  I bought a couple of their mugs but pretty much had so many others I thought I would use them, especially since my Corelle is white. I have larger vegetable or side dish bowl but usually that larger small one suits my everyday needs.

I love our plain white Corelle.  But when I wash a stack of plates in the sink (rarely), they are hard to separate when they are in the water.  We have a dishwasher so it is not  normally a problem.  I have the Corning Simply Lite casseroles and love them too.  They are so lightweight.

@Jordan2  First, best of luck in your new place!

I have many (too many) sets of dishes and my sets of Corelle are my favorites. The Corelle everyday dishes are lightweight and sturdy. And even if you decide on a pattern you can always match with the plain white if you need extra pieces.

Check around as so many places sell Corelle and have great sales/discounts including Amazon. Some of the sets of 4  or 6 place settings come with coffee cups and some do not. I honestly have not seen a set with 2 different types of bowls. As others suggested, you can pick up additional bowls or other extra pieces when your budget allows.

As for the pattern, pick what makes you happy. I am considering a new set in the City Block pattern. I have several completer pieces in white that would work with that pattern.

Let us know what you decide. 😁

I just love Corelle dishes and there are so many patterns to choose from. I like the plain white, as to me they look more modern. But the best part is that they are so light weight it makes unloading the dishwasher so much easier! And also Target sells many individual pieces that you can add to your set. And they go on sale often too. I'm very happy with them.

If you have an Ikea nearby I would go there. It is a great place to get starter items. They are often out of inventory, but if you set up alerts, they will notify you when stuff comes in. My Ikea is two hours away, so I do curbside pick up that way, I can purchase it immediately, and it doesn't sell out before I can get there.

My local Humane Society Thrift Store has always had a good selection of Corning and Corelle pieces....   I have even found replacement lids there...

I agree with others who have plain White dishes.  It goes with EVERYTHING.  If you are going to entertain,  get some Gold coloured charger plates to go underneath. They can be inexpensive and Gold goes with any celebration.  Bowls vs mugs.  That's up to you.  I'm Very Picky about the shape and size of my mugs.   Bowls will store more compactly and have more variety of use.

Have fun on the hunt!

@Jordan2 ............I dont know your taste for decorating but how about going to Goodwill, or thrift stores, even stores like Big Lots, flea markets, etc,  and mix and match?  Get sizes shapes and colors you like.

I know that look is not everyones cup of tea, this is just a suggestion.
