Yes @Sooner, I buy Sam's canned chicken and use it to make chicken salad if I don't happen to have regular chicken handy. I think it's quite good. Never tried it in soups or casseroles.

I'm not sure I have ever used Sam's brand canned chicken breast, but I have used Great Value, Tyson, etc. They are all pretty much the same quality. I have never had any brand I didn't care for. It can be on the salty side, but some brands do offer a no salt version. I use it for a chicken pot pie that I put cornbread on top of for a crust. It is VERY tasty and something I make all the time. I also use it with alfredo sauce over pasta. . . really like that, too. Chicken salad, of course and I have made tasty chicken patties and pan fried them. Canned chicken breast is something that is always in my pantry. Try it, it's not that expensive that you have lost anything if you don't like it, but I think you will. I am very picky about meat and oogie things, taste, smells, etc. and I am not bothered in the least by canned chicken breast.

I’ve used it for years in chicken and noodle soup and chicken salad. It’s chicken breat meat. It’s a staple in my pantry. Costco’s is good too.

I use it a lot, a few times a week. It has a lot of protein, low fat, no carbs, but. Have to watch the sodium . I just mix a little low fat mayo and no sugar added sweet pickle and it is very satisfying.

Funny, but I just bought my first can of chicken at Trader Joe's yesterday. Thought I would keep it on hand (like I do with tuna) to make chicken salad.
@LolaMontez Would love your chicken pot pie recipe!

Yes I've used both Costco's, Sam's Club and Tyson's and they're tasty, especially after I heat up a can with spices, etc. for a cassarole. I keep several cans in the pantry in the case of being snowed in or another problem where I can't get out.... and then use them up and then restock.

Oh my, I had totally forgotten about that chicken in the can. Disgusting!

Sure thing. . . I have kind of modified the original recipe which can be found here. . .

I use a large can of chicken breast, breaking it up a little. I do not mix it in the pie dish. I mix it all together in a bowl and pour it into the baking dish. I just find that easier. I also add more milk to make it "soupier." This is to taste. I also add a little chopped onion, a little garlic powder, a little onion powder and black pepper and poultry seasoning.
Instead of biscuits, I mix up a box of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix and spread that on top. I also sprinkle a little cheddar cheese on top, but that is optional.
I cover it with foil once it is browned, so it doesn't get overly browned before it's done.
To tell if it is done, make a little dent in the cornbread with a knife. If it isn't liquid, it's done. We really love this and it makes great leftovers. Enjoy!

Hmmm, I've lived over 60 years now and have never used canned chicken. Most of the comments here about it are pretty positive. Interesting. I just bought a whole chicken today and, as usual, I will boil it and use the meat for the upcoming week's recipes.
