@granddi - Where are you seeing that phrase? I just clicked into three different Fiesta pieces for sale on this site and didn't find it listed anywhere.

Just checked the "Description" of H339293 and H339291

both say CHINA CONSTRUCTION

Hi, @granddi ,

China construction means that it is made of china.  It is not stoneware.

The company website gives detailed info, the FAQ section is helpful.  Fiesta is fully vitrified.  It is such a great product.

This is some of the features and benefits of Fiesta:

  • Fully vitrified ceramics – industrial strength - Will not absorb odors or moisture
  • Lead Free
  • Made in USA (Newell, WV)
  • Microwave Safe
  • Dishwasher Safe
  • Oven proof
  • Chip resistance - with a 5 year chip replacement warranty

Re: Fiestaware now available at QVC!

wow, I have owned and used Fiestaware for decades.

I always thought this company was 100% American.

Do the new pieces have a USA or China back stamp?

@granddi

This is the backstamp from a dinner plate:

Homer Laughlin China Co.

FIESTA

U.S.A.

CCCD (which is the date code)

Lead Free

I must not be explaining this correctly.  In my earlier post when I said Fiesta is made of china, I mean that is the material that is used to make it.  It is not stoneware.

If someone was choosing a china pattern for their wedding registry, that does not mean that it is made in the country of China.  It may be made in England or USA or another country.

This is another quote from the Fiesta Factory website:

"Most proudly we must mention as always our Fiesta® Dinnerware products are made right here in the USA by local potters as they have for almost 75 years."

Re: Fiestaware now available at QVC!

Guess I'm over thinking this, but what part of of a dinner plate could possibly be constructed in China?

@granddi

None of the Fiesta dinnerware is constructed in the country of China.

Sorry I have had to edit so much, I am trying to explain.

As the backstamp indicates, the company name is:

Homer Laughlin China Co.

It is not Homer Laughlin Stoneware Co.

It is NOT "constructed" in China. That phrase refers to material from which it is made - in the USA.

Re: Fiestaware now available at QVC!

@oceantown - Thanks for all your explanations! When the question about use of the word "China" in a description was mentioned, I figured it had to be in reference to the company name, so that was why I inquired about the location where it was listed. Hopefully this all makes sense to everyone now; Fiesta/Homer Laughlin is a fantastic U.S.-based company with beautiful, durable products.
