Thanks for sharing. We bake lots of bread. We recently started adding 1/4 c of potato flakes for a softer moister roll. We changed nothing else to the recipe. A lot of recipes I saw online used mashed potatoes instead of flakes.

Happy New Year.

Have you made any recipes from Beth Hensberger's Bread Machine Cookbook with 300 recipes in it?

I downloaded the cookbook pdf file online free.

They also have the pdf cookbook for sale on Ebay for a few dollars. I would imagine that's against the law?

Re: Jan. tip for fellow bread lovers

I absolutely love this cookbook.  Have probably made about

30 of the recipes.

The beer bread is the most requested loaf of bread for repeats when I am adding a loaf to a food party.

Have been baking at least a loaf of bread a week for over 15 years.

This book and KA flour are my go to but always looking for something new.

Will check out this site.

Thanks.

I always add a cup of mashed potatoes to my yeast dough. Makes my rolls light as a feather. I sometimes use potato flakes or flour but I think the real thing works best.

Re: Jan. tip for fellow bread lovers

feel bad for those who don't bake. I was in the bakery on my b'day back on the 23rd and treated myself to 2 brownies 3.50 !!!!!!!!!!!!

what ? for 2 brownies ? Man, came in and wanted a loaf of bread it was sold out I felt bad for him I could had made his day since bread is my speciality.  "bread is the staff of life" you know. LOL

anyway, cookies, 12 bucks a dozen ! What ? Apple, peach and cherry danish I forget how much they were probably 3 bucks a piece at least.

all they had was pineapple, so, just left with my brownies.   Told DH I could make  my own brownies a whole 13x9 pan full for 2 bucks with box mix or even if I made my own fav recipe from scratch still wouldn't be that high.

Bakery didn't even have any nuts in or on the icing.  No wonder people don't have money for bills if they have to have Starbucks coffee and danish or donuts everyday. DH would put stop to that. LOL
