Re: DD Didn't Realize It's Super Bowl Weekend.

Everytime I've ever been by a Wegman's, the parking lot has been crammed full.  Are they ever not busy?  We, of course, have none here; I'd gladly put up with the crowds to shop there.

Re: DD Didn't Realize It's Super Bowl Weekend.

I'm not into football except when it comes to the Patriots.  I am in Patriot's Nation.  Even when they don't get into the Super Bowl, they do go deep into the play offs but this year, no play off games so I gave no thought at all  to football.  And I am not the only one.  On some level, I knew the Super Bowl was coming but I didn't care  who or when.  Meant nothing to me.  And then my friend called and insisted and then begged us to come to her Super Bowl party.  I agreed because she begged, her kids thought she had a big party planned and she didn't want to tell them it never even crossed her mind.  So, she's scrambling to put it together in a day and a half.  She hadn't even figured out a color theme because she doesn't know the teams.  Our grocery stores won't be any busier than they are on any Sunday.  There won't be any Super Bowl cakes, no pre-made party platters.  No banners, no tee shirts.

Re: DD Didn't Realize It's Super Bowl Weekend.

DD usually goes to Wegmans after work on Friday nights.  That was her intention but Thursday night neither of us slept.........our 6 month old cat is in heat. She yowled all night long.  Dear God, she is loud for a little cat. She is getting spayed in 9 days.  Yeah!

DD called Friday about 4pm and said she was too tired to hit the store she and coming right home.  Hence, she battled the hoards shopping today.

She must have been so tired from Thurday night she didn't hear the cat last night.  However, I did.

@chrystaltree  Everyone in NE should know Jimmy Garrapolo. He did great things up there when he was a Patriot. So great that Brady made sure Kraft would trade him. So you all can cheer for the 49ers.@Chrystaltree. Edited to add...I am a Patriots fan. Have family in Mass.

Wegmans and is the best. I'm surrounded by them , however they are all a distance away. Once in awhile it's worth the trip. Their bagels are wonderful !

@CrazyKittyLvr2 If you think your kitty is loud - you should hear a female cougar in heat.  OMG - screams loud and long like a screaming woman being killed.  So convincing State Police - Sheriff - helicopter search conducted.

I saw the cat

Yeah, but he's not a Patriot now so he's off my radar. Once the game starts, I figure out who I am cheering for.  I do that with college football games, I watch the game and I end up cheering one team along.  Or I go by the color of the jerseys....hubby hates it hen I do that!

Retired Legal (author of my favorite kiddencat stories)...

Yes - the local Wegmans in Cherry Hill, NJ was swamped yesterday mid-day when my husband and I went to grab a few things.

I too forgot about the viewing parties in the area being the source of the extra crowds.

I personally don't watch, not a big fan of football. I'd rather play with my cat Shadow.

(tho he'd tell you play translates to me just bugging him with too many hugs and kisses).

Re: DD Didn't Realize It's Super Bowl Weekend.

I'm stunned someone doesn't know it's Super Bowl Weekend.

That means they had no access to...

-television

-internet

-newspapers

-magazines

-billboards

-marketing in every retail store & grocery stores in past weeks

???  How is that possible?

Re: DD Didn't Realize It's Super Bowl Weekend.

@QVCkitty1 Guess I'm lucky - have 2 -  2 miles south of me and another just north west - maybe 3 miles.

Another across town - never been to

Last Monday - end of plastic bags - bring your own or buy paper for 5 cents.  Money goes too Food Pantry.  I've always requested paper since I use for so many other things and hate thin plastic bags that dump your groceries all over the trunk.  Gladly give me them 5 cents....even a dime.
