Re: DD Didn't Realize It's Super Bowl Weekend.

If I need anything from the store before the Superbowl begins, it shouldn't be a problem as it is a small town of retirees.  Most afficiondos will enjoy the game quietly as will we except when we are screaming, hooting and hollering.  Woman LOL

Re: DD Didn't Realize It's Super Bowl Weekend.

I have zero interest in football but found something I love about Super Bowl Sunday.  If you want to go food shopping and have nobody in the store -- during the Super Bowl is the time to do it.   I found this out a few years ago when I needed something and ran out to the supermarket.  Far and away the best night of the year to go food shopping!!

@sunshine45  Thanks for letting me know it's always the first Sunday in Feb.

I should get credit for knowing they yank that goofy groundhog out of his little home tomorrow, Feb, 2nd.

To me one is as interesting as the other.

I hope everyone that  likes football enjoys themselves tomorrow.

@judy0330

Used to make plans to shop whenever I saw football on the tv schedule. Traffic is near nonexistent during some games too.

I have no interest in football, and very effectively filter out any talk about it. This super bowl has no more significance to me than any other game. I'm able to ignore them all equally well.

The only way I knew a couple of days ago, was my grocery store had some specials for the event.

I never really cared for sports and still don't.

Here's what it takes to feed the Brigade of Midshipman during the Super Bowl.

They'll be eating more than 12,800 pounds of food, or 6.4 tons. That's more than the weight of an Asian elephant, a male orca and a Tyrannosaurus rex.

The academy, which has about 4,400 mids, has hosted Super Bowl parties in Dahlgren Hall over the years. The academy has previously ordered more than 3,000 pizzas from a local Papa John's.

Here's what the King Hall crew will be making for the midshipmen Sunday...

• 2,500 pounds of meatballs

• 8,190 pounds of wings

• 1,710 pounds of mac and cheese

• 3,000 vegetable cups with ranch

• 3,200 bags of chips

• 400 pounds of buffalo chicken dip

• 3,840 bags of popcorn

• 6,000 cookies

• 190 cases of soda

• 125 cases of water

• 100 cases of Gatorade

Only one grocery store stop for me since before Christmas. Not my favorite place to go during flu season.

No big football fans in this house, but we raised two sons and it was a tradition for me to make little appetizers that the kids enjoyed, rather than a regular dinner on Super Sunday.  Their favorites were pigs in blankets and pizza bites.  Good memories.

Now that it's just the two of us, we don't really care much about it. DH will usually watch, but I have often waited until game time to do my shopping.. the stores are empty because most everyone else is watching the game.  SCORE one for me!

My coworker, who is also a Pampered Chef representative, started a football pool and the winner gets $200 in PC products.  I chose two boxes, based on our birthday numbers. DH said I picked very unlikely numbers, but I'll remain hopeful.

I live in Florida. I vow when I am retired that I will only grocery shop weekdays during the day. Not at night or on weekends when working people like myself right now...have to shop. I resent retirees crowding the stores at  times when they don't have to.They have anytime. I do not.

With that said, if I shop during a holiday prep time...That is my own fault

Maybe these retirees have other obligations that make it necessary to shop when you do.  They can shop whenever they wish, that's the job of their retirement.
