Thank goodness that I've known/know plenty of folks in their 90's - 100's who have always loved/love their sweets/treats, and mostly chocolates. In fact, there have been a few (others) whose blood sugar was way too low, and had ER visits for glucose IV's. So, who really knows what works for individual folks in the long run. (Personally, I'd rather have my sweets at home, rather than in an ER.) Balance is the key. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Sorry for my opinion, if it offends others. Good health to all, no matter what.

I'm certain you are correct, but not everyone subscribes to your diet plan and the very last thing this board needs is another member or the diet police.
You stated your opinion once on this thread and that's all well and good. Coming back and posting basically the same thing and trying to enlist other posters to admonish the rest of us adults about eating something made from a mix once in while most certainly does make you "a humbug, trying to take out the joy and fun of cooking"
I'm glad that you replied. Are there rules as to posting more than once on a thread? That would make you a thread police, lol. But in all honesty, I see nothing wrong in reading more comments and returning to respond more fully.
But yes, to your point, about enlisting others to admonish, I'm sorry that this was your perspective. Indeed, I would like very much to hear as to whether others feel concerned about some of these dietary challenges.
It was less a call to action than to solicit a balanced conversation.

We just don't all make the same choices is all. I'm more of a moderate as in anything in moderation.
You can certainly post more than once, but your posts kind of have a self righteous ring to them and a disdain for those who make different choices than you do. Your call to others smacks of a gang mentality on your part.
From a couple of the other posts, I would say I'm not the only one that took it that way.
You are certainly free to post your 'healthy" recipes and ideas, but maybe you could start your own thread about that and not come on someone's recipe share (not nutritional choices thread, recipe share), and take it off topic trying to stir up controversy.

My mom wouldn't make us regular pancakes she said they were nothing but "paste"..Flour and Water!
Here is a recipe for what she made- pongee pancakes- you just whip it all up in a blender
4 Eggs
1 c Cottage cheese
1/4 c Flour
1/4 c Sugar
1/4 ts Salt
1/8 ts Pepper
Whirl eggs and cheese together in a blender until well mixed and smooth. Add salt, pepper, sugar, and flour and whirl to blend. Pancakes will fry up small and thin on the griddle. Serve with sour cream and fresh berries or jam. Brown sugar may also be sprinkled on top. Tastes like a blintz without all the fuss -
