Re: Valerie Parr Hill's Home Tour

She does have a lot of stuff-reminds me a bit of my sister in law who has a beautiful home but lots of stuff..I am a more stream lined person myself. But again, it looks how I would expect Valerie's home to look based on her shows.....

I didn't see any spheres or flameless candles/hurricane lamps that she is so fond of selling on the Q.

I think those choices are QVC's. Virtually every vendor remotely related to home decor offers both, along with some kind of 'sphere' and mercury glass. As with most things, QVC buyers are stuck in the same groove, kind of like an old broken record.

Re: Valerie Parr Hill's Home Tour

Thank you for sharing this, @JCath

I don't think her home is too cluttered at all.  I think it's all well-placed and she has plenty of empty space for living.  It's lovely and comfortable and neat.  Besides, this is her home on one day during one photo shoot.  She is someone who probably moves things around a lot.  I know I do.  It makes life more interesting.

I don't question that she doesn't have QVC versions of items.  She has the originals!  Why should she buy the copies QVC sells?

Re: Valerie Parr Hill's Home Tour

VPH's home looks modest, comfortable , classic and unpretentious. I do think the camera angles make some of the rooms appear smaller, especially the kitchen, I think she updated her kitchen several years ago. Likely took space from the formal dining room to enlarge the kitchen, and moved the dining table into the great room, as I would call it.

She lives in the town next to where I lived for over 20 years in NJ. How nice for her to share a peek inside her home. A very gracious and classy woman. Not at all like MS.

Very cozy and inviting. More like a cottage with smaller rooms. I also could tell it was the home featured in her decorating book from the early 2000's, so it comfortably fit a family of four.

I was thinking the same thing.  Valerie strikes me as a very private person so I don't see her sharing that much of her personal life on a facebook page.

Also, Valerie has stated on QVC that her personal decorating style is French Provincial.  It's nice to see some of those touches in this video.

I never miss one of her shows, don't care who is hosting, lol.

Hasn't she said that her and Will spend most of their time out in their sunroom/porch. They watch tv, eat most of their meals, put the Christmas tree? I didn't see that in the video.

Re: Valerie Parr Hill's Home Tour

I've gone back several times to view the video, ha.  Notice certain themes and preferences, and some of Valerie's more recent QVC offerings.

She likes symmetry, and throughout the house, she repeats pairs of items.  In the front room, she seems to have a pair of buffet lamps she sells on QVC.   There are pairs and pairs of lots of things, including urns, etc.  This doesn't surprise me-- symmetry and pairs of items tend to bring a certain appealing sense of balance.

In the living room, she has a pair of those illuminated metal vine and hammered glass hurricanes, which I love.  She has them in that soft blue.  I think they come in bronze too.

On the front porch, there was a tiny glimpse of the ceramic lattice work hurricane with a bird on top, which I think may be sold out now?

@queendiva  Yes, her home does look modest and comfortable. I think she has lived in NJ for a pretty long time and it is her only home, unless of course there is a vacation one. Edited to add, I also like Martha Stewart. She has an unbelievable work ethic. Always on the go for a person pushing 80.
