Update/outcome with Samsung Fridge

I called the manager today for Famous Tate where the fridge was purchased as they did not return my call at the store level. Thanks to modern technology (iPhone) I leaned my phone up against fridge & recorded 10 minutes of these horrible noises, humming & vibrations. I played over the phone for him -- he sounded surprised it was so noisy! Here's what he offered: 1) I could come in and select a GE model or better than Samsung (according to him they have major problems & his opinion he would have not suggested this brand). BUT it would be another $600-700 more than I paid..... 2) they could have there serviceman contact me to assure there is a problem at MY expense as I didn't purchase the additional warranty at the store level! Needless to say, I cannot type what my answers to him were except " are u kidding me!" He left the decision up to me -- so tomorrow I'm going into the store and speak face to face with him & I called my cc company to file a dispute -- I think there is a more appropriate answer to be had.

Go to their facebook site and post the problems- and the managers 'solution'! The higher ups in the company will not want negative customer service on their public profile, I've resolved so many problems this way the last few years.

Re: Update/outcome with Samsung Fridge

I would not buy Samsung appliances, my friend had a washer that had issues, her repairman would not even touch it.

That is unacceptable. I would keep contacting Samsung and never purchase from this place again. Samsung is supposed to have one of the best warranties and customer service.

We've been talking about a new fridge, thanks for helping to cross Samsung off the list.

Re: Update/outcome with Samsung Fridge

We have an extended warranty on a Sears Kenmore fridge. The icemaker needed work and we had it serviced. This fridge, we have had for 10 years. We asked the service guy, who works on all brands, what brand we might consider with a future purchase. He paused, and told us, well I definitely wouldn't get a Samsung, those things break down all the time.

Re: Update/outcome with Samsung Fridge

We have a GE Profile French door fridge that is now 7 years old. Last year a part went out on it that controlled the compressor, not expensive, had it replaced, and at that time I asked the repairman about new brands. Same response, forget about Samsung. He also said no to the new GE's, and recommended Kitchen Aid. Our GE is still working perfectly but it is good to hear what others are experiencing.

Good luck with your problem, let us know how it is resolved. Love how you recorded the sounds, something to keep in mind for the future for all sorts of issues!

This sounds like a problem with the place she bought it not Samsung. To tell you the truth famous Tate's does not sound like a reputable place.

Re: Update/outcome with Samsung Fridge

Consumer Reports lists Samsung as one of the top appliance makers. They raved over a 4-door model that I've seen advertised before. I know it's top dollar but they said that the lower-priced models are almost as good. This sounds like a problem with the refrigerator (obviously) but the dealer isn't helping you, either.

I'd go to Famous Tate's FB page as previously mentioned then try Samsung's. Still no luck, contact Consumer Reports. They have a column dedicated to problems like this.

Good luck. I had problems about 15 yrs ago with a Kenmore refrigerator. To this day I refuse to even walk into a Sears store due to the underhanded way my repairs (yes, plural) were handled. They will never, never get another penny from me.

I hope your outcome is wonderful and you're not soured on Samsung!

Re: Update/outcome with Samsung Fridge

Have you tried calling Samsung Customer Service directly? I have a Samsung Side by Side now for at least 3 Years and it works perfectly, and is as quiet as a mouse. I called Samsung to ask questions about the Ice Maker Functions and they were very helpful.
