LEE RADZIWILL'S APARTMENT ON VIDEO

[ Edited ]

Wow, remember when we got to see a few choice photos of both her New York and Paris apartments?   With the dispersal of some of her effects,  the auction house Christie's is making available this video of Radziwill's New York apartment.  Here it is:

Her main space so light and bright, but her famous affinity for pattern, exotica, color, very much on display elsewhere in apartment.  They take the edge off "boxy" rooms.  I have always enjoyed her rarefied style, which seems more individualistic than those of many of her "socialite" peers.

Things I love are:  her predilection for animals and botanicals, exotic prints, stripes, comfort, all the pops of "raspberry",  all the books and exquisite curiosities...Her rooms have both a feminine and scholarly air, very beguiling...

There are also new still pictures of the apartment available, which I'll try to post later in "Part 2", ha.

Re: LEE RADZIWILL'S APARTMENT ON VIDEO

Interesting and some lovely things... I remember a number of years ago AD did a spread on her then newly decorated NYC apartment. It was quite lovely and obviously, she either redid that space more recently or, more likely, moved to a different apartment, as none of these elements appear to have been in the earlier article... Overall, and while I unfortunately can't retrieve those earlier photographs, I think I preferred her earlier aesthetic to this one, though both are clearly quality...

@stevieb   It's the same apartment, she lived there for 30 years.  It was a floor through.  The AD article was in 2016:  https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/lee-radziwill-new-york-apartment

wow.  well, that sort of knocked me for a loop.  i don't know why.  i have been told i am an empath.  for some reason while i was watching that video, i started to cry.  maybe the whole dynasty thing?    maybe i was overwhelmed because of the beauty i saw in those rooms.  i was truly touched.  thank you for posting @Oznell

I think that's very endearing that it made you cry, @fancy pantsy.   Psychologically, it's very true that highly sensitive people are moved emotionally by beauty, often producing tears.  You must have connected at an aesthetic level with some of what you were seeing.   Neat!

The music they chose to go with the video would enhance that kind of reaction too, I think.

I like that stance, @Sooner!   And I think she really meant it.  Certain things, like those metal giraffes she had, I could swear I've remembered from years and years ago when her various interiors were featured....  If you truly love something, you want to hang onto it...
