Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

I don't buy any new Christmas decorations anymore. I accumulated so much years ago I just put up what I have. Maybe when we start having grandchildren around here I will, but I love using all of my handmade stuff from years past.

Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

For me, red is the Christmas color. My tree is predominantly red and white, thanks to the number of santa ornaments I have. Mixed in with the antique ornaments I have from my mother and grandmother that are pink, aqua, and dark blue, they all look wonderful. I also have the first pair of booties from each of my babies on the tree as well as many ornaments they made when they were little; now several from the grands. Some may look at my tree and say it's a hot mess....but I think it is perfect! I don't use tinsel, bows, or that mesh wrap stuff that has become popular. Just the tree and the white lights and the hundreds of ornaments I now rotate each year since they won't all fit....some displayed in bowls, etc. The tree is as big as the ceiling will allow and one tree is all I want....my color scheme won't change for my foyer and LR. In the den I have sweater teddies....2 dozen 8" teddies wearing sweaters of all colors and kinds...they recline in small chairs or a small rocking horse my MIL passed down to me. The den is all for the little grands...they can touch and handle all the Christmas things in there. They love it. There are also candy canes they can also pick up and eat by the teddies.

I do pretty much the same thing each year....family room & kitchen have lots of red accents. Living room & dining room I use a lot of silver & gold.

Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

I enjoy gold, silver, greenery, ivory and some deep reds.

My heart melted the other day when my DGD was inspecting my tree. She noted I had lots of horses....I am a collector of Hallmarks rocking horses and enjoy seeing them adorning my tree. Angels are also important.
