Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

I don’t have a color scheme for Christmas; I just decide what favorite things to display.

A little Christmas goes a long way with me.   I do want my house to reflect the holiday in a very simple and basic way, but not scream Christmas with all floor, wall, and furniture surfaces covered by something bright and glittery.

As long as there’s a wreath on the front door, a tree in the living room, the Nativity scene on my coffee table, a holiday tablecloth and simple decoration on the dining room table, I’m satisfied.   When the girls were small, they wanted to use every decoration we owned at the time, and I let them decorate however they wanted.   Now that they’re adults, they agree “less is best”.

@QuackerooYes, that's it.  The same mattress is also sold on Amazon so you might want to check there for prices too.  Amazon is where we bought our platform/base.

Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

@RedTop Your Christmas decor sounds a lot like mine! My Nativity goes on the mantel, though, to protect it from my kitty--who is a professional de-clutterer. Cat LOL I have a small vignette for the dining room table, one thing for the kitchen table, one for the island. That's about it! My wreath goes on the back door, because no one (including us) would see it on the front.

I admire other peoples all-out decorating, without having the slightest desire to do it myself!

Red and Green with white lights. I collect Snowmen but they must "speak" to me, lol. Traditional decor, no metallics at all. LOTS of greenery (fake and real).

@vermint

@RedTop

I admire those of you who can have the self restraint to keep it simple.

I want to be one of those 'greens and pine cones and candles' kind of people. Simple, elegant, seasonal instead of screaming Christmas and having to be taken down after just a few weeks.....but alas, I have a wandering eye and lust in my heart for holiday decor! lol

And that shows in my displays and in my storage areas!

 I like what I do, I like the way it looks, but I don't like putting it away or storing it. I do like a simple and streamlined look, but then I see all the things I've curated over a lifetime, and love those things so much I just have to work with them.

Someday, when I grow up, I hope to be like the both of you!!

Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

@Mominohio And there's been times I've wished I was more into holiday decorating! But--I know how badly I hate putting even the little I do away at season's end. And that goes for any seasonal decor. I've actually had my ceramic jack o'lantern still sitting on the hearth when I put up the Christmas tree...seriously!

Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

Our color scheme is a deep red/burgundy, gold, forest green, and ivory. These colors blend in with the colors in the living, dining, family room, and kitchen. Our tree is green with multicolored lights and sentimental ornaments. Instead of traditional tinsel I drape dark red beads. I have had this color scheme since we moved into this house 19 years ago.

Re: Holiday Color Scheme for your Home?

I have been collecting Hallmark/trip ornaments for over 41 years and would not think of not incorporating them into my black colored Christmas tree.  I do have a "theme" of pink bulbs sprinkled throughout these hundreds of precious memories and love the look.  To complete the look I have sprays of gold twigs, palms sprinkled throughout the tree.  I love it and always gets lots of compliments.
