Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@gidgetgh, I'm sure it was difficult. I'm glad you got through it. My heart goes out to you.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I pulled a couple more pair of too-large jeans from my stack to add to donations today. Added a kitchen type trash can. Have a mattress cover I need to re-check to make sure it's in good enough condition to donate, or it goes in the trash. Also have some extra pillow cases (not sure how that happened, but...), slowly getting back to purging. It's been a while.

@Snicks1 - thanks. It's a living nightmare every day.  I can't believe he's gone and the grief, at times, is brutal.

My sister offered again today to come and stay with me for a few weeks. She works from home and could work from here, but I said no for now.  I want to work through this and get used to it.  Though I am very very lonely, I don't want her to come, me get used to her being here and then be by myself again.  Too many stops and starts.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@gidgetgh, I expect it will be a while to work through it. I am sure it would be for me. Very nice of your sister to offer. Hang in there. We are here for you, as much as we can be, any time you need to talk to us.

@Snicks1 I saw my gyno the week after my husband died. He lost his wife a few years ago.  He told me that my body is physically in shock and that it will take several months for the shock to wear off.

Sometimes it actually pays to purge.

I just decided to take a quick look inside two drawers in my DR sideboard. Birthday cards from March. I looked inside to see who each card was from and saw that my brother had enclosed a check!

Will cash that next week, for sure. Cards and a magazine tossed into the recycling bin.

@gidgetgh - I'm sure you are in some type of shock and will be for a while.

There are several stages of grief, if I recall correctly, like 9 of them. Some people work thru them quicker than others, but either way, it will be a while before you work thru this and I don't think there's any shortcut in getting thru it either. You either work thru it or get stuck forever.

We are thinking of you and if it helps to come here and talk, we are always here for you.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I tossed a lifejacket that was ripping out this weekend.

My kids will get them out to wear to swim in the lake, then leave them hanging outside in the sun all summer. So of course, after a season or two they rot away and rip out. At least we usually are able to grab them cheap from garage sales. We're starting to get low though, I think we only have about 5 left. Hopefully it's enough to get us thru until the kids are big enough to not need them.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Just some things trashed the last few days, a pool floaty thing and a planter box that I had been using for peanuts for the squirrels (they have destroyed it over the years, lol) put out a smaller one to use now. A few other small things that have worn down to the point of being just junk.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

We took several boxes and bags of donations to Community Aid in PA this morning.  Included were sheets, bedspread, art work, vases, new puzzle books, tops, kitchen items, craft items, etc.
