Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@threecees - How nice for you that your garage sale was a success! It sounds like you were able to get rid of some larger items too, which is nice. Congratulations!

I organized a bit in my bathroom, didn't get rid of a lot but did find a makeup bag to add to the donate pile and tossed two boxes from a knee brace and an epilator that were taking up room under the sink.

5 years of Consumers Report to recycling.  Couple boxes of books to recycling with two boxes to donate.  Finally organizing shelving.

Having trouble getting rid of my Encyclopedia Britannica - beautiful green and gold version.  I remember what a financial hit it was for my loving parents.  Seems some how disrespectful.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I started digging deeper in my basement and I wasn't sure what I was in

store for with kids Halloween costumes. But wow, I have 3 overstuffed,

huge Rubbermaid containers of outfits when my 2 were little into say

size 10/12 or so. Some years my kids wore one costume out to trick-or-

treat night and another to school parties, when they had them that is.

I have princess, cheerleader, wrestler, pirate, bumblebee, fairy, lion,

Spiderman, a cupcake outfit and many others saved.

So I am going through these and sorting them out size by size and

asking a few people if any of their kids/grandkids can use them. If not

probably will then take the remainder to Goodwill. They are in perfect

shape. Not even sure what will happen with Halloween here but I really

would like the free space.

I threw out a plastic wastebasket.  It must have been old because it started to break at the top edges.  I didn't think it was THAT old though. LOL.   Maybe it was due to bathroom humidity.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@threecees : congrats on your successful garage sale! I love the idea of posting pics of your items on your Facebook ad-genius! I will do that IF I EVER have another garage sale. I have not been to a single sale this year because they have all been cancelled. I will check to see if maybe people around here are starting to have them again. I love garage/ yard sales and have gotten tons of goodies over the years.

I love perfume and just bought a new one this week ($65.00 marked dow to $15.00-score!)  Realized that with all the stay at home this year I had not changed out my winter scents for the summer ones. (yes, I have that many) Decided to toss 2 Avon scents and will be sampling others on a daily basis to see what else can go. I am sure I can part with more.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

My dryer died yesterday, so the old one is in the back of the truck ready to go to the scrap yard. Mom and brother also had a couple of things that can be recycled, so truck is loaded for drop off tomorrow. Takes care of a few more big things that would generally build into a bigger pile of trash.

[ Edited ]

Just a few more things found to purge today. From the laundry: a few random items and an ancient, nearly empty bottle of fabric softener. I have not used liquid fabric softener in years, LOL. For the donation box: a spatula and large turner, both duplicates and both in good condition. Also tossed another Turbo Scrub which would no longer charge. Replaced with another bought from HSN using my $10.00 off coupon at the end of July, just before it expired. I hate that this is my third one- they do not last long but they make cleaning the shower SO much easier, so I just continue to replace as needed, although they are getting harder to find, just like everything else.

Called my local Walmart today. I can't return a pair of pants I bought pre-lockdown but they will allow me to return lamp shades I bought to try on my thrift store find buffet lamps. Back in the trunk of the car they go, to be returned later this week when I pick up an item I ordered on line.
