I don't know what is wrong with me this year, but I am just not in the mood to decorate for Easter!  I have all these nice Easter decorations but just don't have the motivation to get them out!  Does anyone else ever feel like this?

Re: Easter/Seasonal Decorating

Oh sure, I feel like that from time to time.  In fact, I completely skipped decorating for Christmas this year (what a Scrooge, right?!)  Sometimes you're just not in the mood!  I do have Easter decorations out, however.  In fact, I think I went a tad overboard.  I guess I was feeling guilty for skipping Christmas.  LOL

Re: Easter/Seasonal Decorating

I think I feel a bit that way every time I change out from one holiday to the next. But, like you, I have tons and tons of decorations (for all occasions) and I feel like a real loser if I don't get them out and use them...and enjoy them! I did Easter about a week ago. All the Valentine's came down and the Easter went up. I'm pretty slow at this point in life so it takes me awhile. And when all the "stuff" is laying around all over for a day or more it gives me anxiety. Crazy, I know!!! In the throws of it I just want to run away, forget about it, and not look back. Ha! But when it's finally done and everything is organized, I do truly love it. And I've finally started taking pics of the decorations so I can duplicate it the next year. That's been one of my biggest problems. I can't remember from year to year how I styled it so I'm starting from scratch each time. Having the pics to look back on should help with that problem.

I rambled on with all that to say you are not alone.

I don’t think young people decorate for much other than Christmas. We noticed that stores around here are carrying way less seasonal decor.

Re: Easter/Seasonal Decorating

I've got all my Easter decorations out, few that they are.  Talked to someone today who has 13 plastic storage containers for Easter alone. On top of that, she is taking down her Christmas tree tomorrow (March 14). What a pack rat.

Re: Easter/Seasonal Decorating

My Easter decorations consist of a few Jim Shore decorations. I’m simple these days since the kids are grown and we have one little one that comes over a couple times a month. It’s the parents time to decorate.

Re: Easter/Seasonal Decorating

I think we all have times when we don't want to make the effort to do something.  I really want to change my decor over to spring-related items, but our weather is cold and dreary so it seems wrong somehow.  I know I should ignore the weather and only pay attention to the calendar...maybe tomorrow.

Re: Easter/Seasonal Decorating

I totally get it.

Some years it is a physical thing in the way I'm feeling, and some years it is just that it doesn't seem important or doesn't make me happy to get into the decor for some holiday or season.

Some years I'm really into it, others I'm not.

I think for me. a lot of it comes from having too much stuff, and trying to navigate my way through it when I'm not feeling well physically.

I'm working on narrowing down what I have to work with, the accessibility of it, and hope that it will not only make it easier for each event, but make me more excited about doing it.

Re: Easter/Seasonal Decorating

I put a few things out for St. Patrick’s Day....and I purchased another shamrock plant today.  I’m not going to do anything for Easter....just not in the mood!

When I had little ones at home....and when the grands were little...I decorated for all the holidays.  I’ve simplified a lot, now I’m retired and in a smaller place.
