I stand and scan the store first, then head to sales.

I do not like to shop but sometimes must. So I have tunnel vision and make a bee line just for the one item or two I need. Then get the blank out of Dodge. Went to the Mall last Friday afternoon for my one of my Granddaughter's birthday gift in and out in 15 min. Even picked up some nuggets at Chick fil a. Tunnel vision protects my cash flow and credit cards.

I am always surprised with the way some people enter the store where I work.
We have two large tables as you enter, each has two benches below with matching items.
Misses is across the front half of the store with Petite down one side and. Woman's down the other side.
Ladies new to our store will enter and walk straight to the middle of the store and stop. They passed and didn't see any of store's best arrivals!
What do you do?
@ECBG Hello. Interesting thread. I enter and go directly to the sale racks. I notice stores used to have them in front to draw customers in the store, but now they’re more towards the middle/back so you must pass reg. price items first...smart move. Then I circle back to tops first, then pants/jeans. Accessories are last.
I don’t buy matching/co-ordinating “outfits”, so I’d pass, w/o looking, at the 2 front tables w/ matching pieces. I prefer to co-ordinate my own clothing and usually am looking to fill in what I need, not 2 pieces.

@Suzeecat wrote:I always look around as soon as I enter because I don't want to forget which door I came in, LOL! Seriously, I recently went to a new, unfamiliar Kohl's and made a note of what was displayed just inside the doors. When I left I could not find my car. I knew there was more than one entrance, but I was sure that I had left through the same one I entered. Sneaky Kohl's had put the same merchandise inside BOTH entrances!!! It's so scary to walk into a parking lot and not find your car where you expect it to be.
@Suzeecat So funny. I have no sense of direction...none. I use my Google Maps to get to my dentist...been going for years. Lol. Always try to park in same area I go to mall or a store or grocery store. Years ago, when cars had antennas, mine had a red plastic flower on top, so I could easily spot the car. Now there seems to be a sea of black, silver, gold or white cars...all look the same. Mine is metallic gold, but should have neon color to stand out!!!

I noticed lately that my TJ Maxx & Marshall’s are very unorganized and sizes not put back on correct racks. Frustrating. If I’m just browsing for a “find”, that’s OK. When looking for something specific, I’ve started looking online or going to the mall.
Maybe I have less patience now that I hit 70. Lol

I always do a store counter clockwise unless I know exactly what I want. Its almost a superstition, I feel uneasy if I go the other way.

I had to think about this ....
It all depends on the store's entrance - location of the doors. Target opened a couple of blocks from me and a friend and I stopped in after lunch last week. Awkward entrance and store layout. Didn't shop - just left after briefly walking around.
If it's a store I'm familar with - I head to the section selling the stuff I'm looking for. Afterwards, I'll look around to see what's new or on sale.

@ShanusI don't buy sets either but I will take one element out of a collection.

When I shop i'm in a "me time zone" . I so rarely visit the malls now - only going into Macy's if I do go and stay out of mall stores with those displays because TBH there is always a SA lurking. I know this because I once worked on commission for a ladies shop and I was to help them find outfits and start a fitting room for them. And tables are problematic... yes I may peruse a sweater or two and browse but in the background the SA is waiting to straighten the display and I hate to create extra work for someone. Banana R comes to mind.
I mostly shop at TJs or Marshalls and start counterclockwise around the perimeter. Shoes, handbags, lingerie, beauty, dresses, sale racks...sometimes housewares and linens. Another thing is there are carts to use at those stores and that helps me with walking.

SA's? We just don't seem to have them around here, Kohl's especially. This has to be the main reason I don't shop in person very much. I need someone to answer questions occasionally.
