Just hold the CTRL and ALT keys down simultaneously with the UP ARROW key, and it will revert to normal.
This is for PCs running Windows 8.0 or 8.1.
I remember seeing a post about this several weeks ago, but don't remember who posted it or if it got resolved.

Hi Ford1224,
I am assuming this has happened to you and it is nice of you to post here what worked for you. Things like this can be helpful to many that feel like they are asking a "dumb question" to which I always reply: "there is no such thing as a dumb question". Some people just don't want to ask things that others find simple but we all need help from others in many things in our lives and I know you realize this more that others.
Thank you again,

Both mine and DH's have been doing this since we switched to uVerse with ATT. They go off to the right and sometimes move completely out of view. There's a symbol on the bottom right to click and it comes back, but still moves around a bit and won't take anything until you get it back just right.
We both have Apple computers - even Apple can't tell us why this is happening, and ATT apparently could not possibly care less. Pesky nuisance.

I'm not sure what problem is being discussed. In what way does a screen ""go sideways?""

My cat ran across my laptop while on my lap once and this happened - luckily I have a desktop computer so I was able to Google it.
Thanks for sharing how to fix it!

In this case, it means the screen image has rotated 45 degrees. If you press Ctrl+Alt and any arrow key, your screen will rotate so the top is the same direction as the arrow key you pressed.
This was a popular prank at my office after someone did it by accident and I had to show him how to correct it. (I also learned how to fix it when I did it by accident and had to try and replicate what I had done to get it back. A lot of button mashing and I figured it out.)

LOL. . .My cat decided to take a nap on the laptop and the same thing happened here a couple of months ago. Thank goodness there was a quick solution on Google. ![]()

Hi, ChynnaBlue! Thanks! I'm familiar with what you describe here. I was wondering about the comment in Post #2, with a display going "completely out of view" and being associated with AT&T, though. I should've been more specific in my question.

Yes, hckynut . . . now maybe this is something only a woman could understand, but I stupidly put my handbag on top of my keyboard and the whole screen went side ways. I looked through my entire "Dummies" book and couldn't find a fix, so I finally called Tech Help and the minute I started speaking to him, I remembered something that was posted about this and using the CTRL, ALT keys and pressing something else, so I pressed the UP ARROW and sure enough, the screen righted itself. The tech was laughing with me (I hope not AT me) when this occurred.
So I thought I'd post it, since I had forgotten "the fix" myself.
