anyone else watching True Detective?

I loved the first season and am pretty excited about the 2nd season- I really like Colin Farrell and I happen to like the LA film noir so far with the 1st epi.

As with all True Detective episodes, I have to rewatch it, because there are so many little details that I do not pick up on with one viewing.

The plot line (so far) kinda reminds me of China Town, but that is just from one viewing - and I do think that might be just superficial.   I loved how all 3 of the emotionally wounded cops came together at the end to investigate the death.   Watching all 3 of them with different storylines, I was wondering how they were all going to "meet" up

Re: anyone else watching True Detective?

I watched S02, E01 last night but I'm saving it because I need to watch again.  I started too late.   But I think this is going to be good, too.

I loved season one.  Clearly, this is an entirely different show.  But I did watch the opening credits and noticed that Harrelson and McConaughey are Exec. Producers.   That's pretty cool.

I just got back HBO on Sunday. The first thing the rep said to me when I ordered it was how good True Detective is. I am going to try and catch up because it sounds like something I would really like.

We watched the first season with Matthew and Woody and it was sooo good.  Amazing story line. One of the best I've ever seen.   I'd love to see those two do another series.  Haven't seen the second season yet, but if it anything like season one, we'll be watching.

I watched last season and enjoyed it. I plan to watch the new season OnDemand as soon as I think I'm alert enough to pay close attention -- lol.

Re: anyone else watching True Detective?

We recorded the first episode of the new season. However, we did not watch yet. We will watch tonight. (DIdn't have time last night).

I saw some people on facebook are complaining they don't like the new season, but I do  not go by reviews, so I will decide for myself.

I've been seeing reviews like that too - it is going to be different from last season - I do like the format as it gives actors a chance to shine in a mini series and then move on to something else.

I am not sure why people don't like the 1st episode - I thought it was well done. It was very complex because you have 3 different cops who have no relationship with one another and we had to follow their storylines first.

Darn!!  I kept thinking last night that there was something I wanted to watch (was it on Sunday?) but couldn't think of it.

I will definitely watch it ON DEMAND, as I loved the first series.

I did not watch the first season but I saw the first episode of season 2 on Sunday.  I think it's worth staying with it for a few more episodes even though I found the story to be very dense and quite hard to follow at times.  The acting was superb, though, so I'll stick with it for now.

Re: anyone else watching True Detective?

I watched it yesterday On Demand.

I loved Season 1 and I am happy that Season 2 is starting out with the same high quality plot line and acting excellence.

It's very dark.  B, LA film Noir is the perfect description.  I was intrigued from the beginning and I thought the way they brought all three cops together at the end was brilliant.
