Law Enforcement does not need to witness an incident or need a video to take a report.

If you think driver is putting people at risk- report it.

I think, if you're going to do it, it needs to be done on the spot, in real time. Hours, or days, after the fact is too late. If you have to think about it or ask advice, it likely wasn't that serious of an infraction to the OP, in the moment. Yes, there are rude and bad drivers out there. That's why we're taught to drive defensively.

@lynnie61 Did you report this in the medical building? Most have someone such as a guard and reception. Plus many have private security patrolling the parking lots.

Calling the number on the truck was a good thing to do but it didn't get the truck moved.

I know others have suggested to call the non-emergency number for the local police.

I've heard everyone should have a dash cam. I drive very little, a mile here, 2 miles there. My car is nearly 6 years old and doesn't even have 15,000 miles on it.

Would I report a crazy driver? I am also one of those old dinosaurs that doesn't bring a phone with me all the time. So probably no. I've seen some crazy things on facebook. People purposely causing accidents and having bad intent to cause damage and trouble. It's a new world of which I'm really not up for at this point in my life.

I do have a road trip coming up and I'm nervous about it. I go by myself and it's about a 5-6 hour ride. A family member would tell me, "Just take your time. You're in no hurry. You'll get there about the same time anyway and its better to be safe." I'm from the NE so getting from Point A to Point B is always done as quickly as possible.

I say go with your gut. If the situation was dangerous and you have the means to alert the authorities, do so.

If it was a one-off, no I wouldn't report them. We all have to drive defensively.

If you didn't report them right away, I'd consider it too late to do so now.

I would not report them unless the same person driving did it over and over to me.

Yes. Always.

If possible, my passenger (or I will do it if not driving) takes a picture of the car/driver/licence plate or a video of them in action . Cells phone with video/camera are a wonderful thing.

No, police are paid to monitor traffic. I wouldn't presume to do their job for them.

It's illegal in most states to be on a cell phone while driving.

We had just about the same experience one day. A truck was in the left lane (which turned left) and we were in the lane that was going to go straight. The truck ahead of us decided at the very last minute to move over to our lane and my husband just missed hitting him by inches. What made it worse was that he also slammed on his brakes because the light was turning. One time I saw a car driving the wrong direction on a 3 lane highway. Thank goodness it was early in the morning and not a lot of cars on the road. I see bad drivers'recless drivers all the time. No wonder there are so many accidents and car insurance is so high.
