If it is what you see on here, social media and the news getting you feeling locked down and helpless to get motivated, stop looking, or limit yourself to just one small period of time per day to catch up, and not early in the day.

Start the day with a list of things important to you to be done and mark off each one as you do it.

Find a passion if you don't have one. It can be because of world events, or in spite of it. Do something every day to make a difference in others lives, like donate to a food pantry, clean out old towels for the animal shelter, join a group that is doing litter pick up along roadsides, etc. Find something to do that isn't about you as much as it is about others.

Talk to someone you know and enjoy on a regular basis, like a good friend. Sometimes sharing the downs makes you feel like you aren't alone, and often you can make each other laugh when others cannot.

Look at things that are piling up around you as blessings not burdens. If you can't get the umph to clean house, don't see it as a torture, see it as a blessing for all you have and a blessing if you can get up and physically do what needs done. Dirty dishes means you have food, laundry in the hamper means you have clothing, etc. Seeing things from a different point of view can help.

@Grouchomarx   I haven't read the replies.

My advice to you would be to stop watching the news.

Find a small and pretty journal and list five things each day you are grateful for.

Allow yourself a time of quiet each day to reflect and think.

Play beautiful music.

Breathe.

It will get better. We all have to believe that.

Things in NY are getting really bad with the protesters and the looters. I feel I've lost my faith in humanity, at least around here. I turned off the news and made one of the best dinners in a long time, new personally concocted recipes. Big success. Sitting outside now while my partner does an annoying work call inside. Trying to keep sane. A glass of rose (or two) helped. As well as you lovely people who help me stay sane.

@GrouchomarxI have always thought of my self as a glass half full person when it comes to looking at things...this latest event has me pretty depressed.  It is very difficult to wrap my head around what is happening.
