When you keep waiting

[ Edited ]

For your "second wind" to go do all that ***** you keep saying you'll do. But you get stuck and just keep cycling through your routine and the news and all the bad feelings and laziness. I keep talking to people having the same feeling. Anyone know how to power out of it? Ugh I'm in a bit of a hole. Cheers to those of you who are not. I'd love a tip to get me going.

Turn off the news, the laptop, iPad, smartphone, etc.
Limit conversations with “Debbie Downers”😂
Turn on some music.
Pick one easy to accomplish task to get started.

I try to have a plan for every day...and do my best to get it done.  I am one of those people that need to stay busy...but will admit to time spent doing nothing, which makes me feel like a slug.

I have been able to go into our business on occasion but certainly not working a 40 hour week, more like 6-8  hour week, so that does get me out of the house.

Sorry, I have to tips for you.  I've been in a hole for a long time, unable to get out.  I have one repeating thought on a way out (which I'll not share).  It's the only choice ... our other rights and liberties have been taken away.  There's nothing left.

I only turn on news later in evening. Try that. Also, pick something little to do to get started with whatever you want to do. For me, once I accomplish a smaller task ( e.g., clean out a drawer or wash some throws) I have a sense of accomplishment and usually tackle a few other projects. Of course, some days are better than others.

I don't know. I'm sorry.

DH is works in a hospital. Me insurance.  We are both working.

Both of our sons have lost their jobs

DH needs to talk about it. I need to not hear it.

It's a uncomfortable balance.

I pray a lot.

I had the coronavirus so although I wanted to do a lot of things while I was home, my body wouldn't let me. It was too busy fighting the virus to leave me with energy to do much else. I thank God my symptoms weren't severe and I didn't have to be hospitalized but I experienced severe fatigue and could only perform small tasks before having to rest.  Even though I couldn't do too much cleaning, etc., I found little things to do to keep me from getting bored and completing small tasks gave me a sense of accomplishment. For example, I organized my dresser drawers, folding my clothes using Marie Kondo's KonMari method and I was pretty pleased with the results! I also knitted a few dish cloths which is relaxing in and of itself. I plan to start walking again with DH because that's something I really miss. We have a treadmill but it's not the same. Anyway, if you can find a little something to help you pass the time each day and especially if it's something productive, it can do wonders for your outlook!

I use to make a list at night of all I needed to get done, or wanted to get done the next day. I was more productive, there was something about checking things off the list. I am not doing that now, and in a rut as well.

I do agree with the poster(s) who said turning off the tv and turning on some music, right now, there is so much going on, even locally, I keep wanting to watch tv .

@Grouchomarx  I feel your pain, and am somewhat overwhelmed and broken hearted with everything that's going on. What helps me when those type of thoughts creep in, is to immediately get up, and start something-anything. Walking around the house, watching your favorite movie, a nice relaxing bath etc. For me, it is cleaning.

The most important thing, is that you are acknowledging it, instead of keeping it inside. Please know you are not alone, and that I hope things improve for you soon.😷_____🤗(social distance hug)
