I only have been to a few, and that was when we took our kids on a cross country auto trip. I enjoyed it, always met interesting people there.

I loved getting it all done at once and watching the other customers was interesting.
I still go once in a while to wash and dry comforters. The one I go to now has a snack bar. Really very nice place to use.

When I lived in Chicago our huge building had washers and dryers. The most irritating thing (besides stuff getting stolen) is that people would pull my stuff out of the washer and throw it in my basket.....ya' can't move any faster than the stuff in the dryers ahead of you. I finally found the culprit family and let them have it ...in their language.....I scared the cr*ap out them...never happened again.

What do you like most/least about the laundromat?
Never had an occasion in my life time to go into one much less use one. Thus not much I can say negatively or positively about them.

I only use a one about once to twice a year to wash my thick comforters and blankets. The last time I went they had switched over tp laundry cards instead of money. So now I have a balance on the card and hope that I don't misplace it when I go again sometime in the Fall.

You can say that about swimming pools and locker rooms, too.
Pros: Doing several loads at the same time. Great for large items, like quilts.
Cons: Watching and waiting. The last one I was in had a television.

I use a laundromat all of the time since we have a septic system and well. It's fast, easy, convenient and probably about the same cost-wise as doing the wash at home. You pay around $800+ for a washer/dryer combo and then the electricity, hot water, and occasional service call, and all of that probably makes the laundromat pretty comparable in price. I spend about $6-$7 a week doing the laundry there and I'm all done and back home in about two hours.
My biggest pet peeve is, like others have said, when someone comes in with a washed pile of laundry and grabs the dryers just as you need them.

I haven't used a laudromat for many years. The only time I used it was when my old washer decided to break down and that was for only one week's worth of laundry. When I used the laundromat I stayed there until it was completely done but noticed some people starting the washers and leaving for about 45 minutes. What???!!! I would never do that.
