What do you like most/least about the laundromat?

I'm sure most of us at some time or another have relied on using the laundromat to do laundry. What do you love/hate about doing laundry this way?

For me, I love getting it all done at once, but hate the cost, not knowing what was in the washers before me, and mostly not having the ability to soak my clothing for an hour or so, then resume the wash process. I'm a big soaker because of the type of work my son and husband do, they get pretty dirty/stinky.

I've only used laundromats for a few years when I was in an apartment, and on occasion when my washer has been broken and I waited for repairs or replacement to be delivered. What's your laundromat stories?

${#emotions_dlg.blink}$ I finally have my own washer and dryer. I hated lugging the clothing back to my apartment and I hate the cost the heat and the wait for machine when its busy in there. Also someone stole my clothing out of the dryer one time. I got the money back for the clothing but, I waited a long time to get the money. ${#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}$

That I can't bring the dog there anymore when I go to launder HER items and the cat's .(that's right--their laundry doesn't get mixed in with ours at home).

The pain they have cost us, the evils that never happened.

I cannot say I liked anything about the laundromat. I was so excited when we moved into apartments that had a laundry room for every 4 units. When I finally had my own washer and dryer, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

I had a large rug that I would bring to the Laundromat because they had the extra large washing machine.

I have never used a Laundromat for clothes though. I always had my own washer and dryer. When my dryer needed repair, I did laundry at my mom's house.

I loved that it was all done at one time....

Hated having to wait for machines...so I would get up and go when they first opened...(didn't always work ...as others had the same idea...lol)

Hated the standing around waiting for the laundry to be done....

I finally started leaving it there with an attendant who did my laundry for me and I could swing by and pick it up later....(cost a little more but my time was more important to me...)

Finally moved to a place that I could buy my own washer and dryer and haven't been back since....about 18 years now....

Hope I didn't just jinx myself.....lol...

I didn't have a washer/dryer for years when I first got married. It wasn't convenient to go all the way to my parent's house, so I used the ones in the various buildings. The worst part was carrying it back and forth. I've used a laundromat a couple of times out of necessity, and hated carting everything there, and back home. Nowadays I would really be hesitant for public health reasons, such as bed bugs. I know the dryer kills them, but..I don't feel 100 percent confidant it would, plus there's the ick factor. Things I liked were, as deep mentioned, the smell of laundry detergent, and getting everything done quickly.
