I'm not @Marp but I would rather the parents have closure and be able to bury their child, and begin the unimaginable task of grieving this, then never finding him ever.
As any parent who has lost a child will say, there is NO CLOSURE. Not just directed at you, but that phrase needs to be never used in reference to a death.

Thank you for asking Noel, yes we have and I remember every wonderfully kind comment and every ridiculous or insensitive comment that brought more pain. How and what is said to bereaved parents is very important. Losing a child is a very different and unique grief.

As you say, unique. So what you found hurtful, others might not; they may consider the love and desire to help with which a comment was made. Not making light of your loss and situation, I would not want to do that, but it is individual.

@SilleeMee alligators will often cache their kills. I don't know if they remember and go back later. And yes they do eat us, or least parts.

There are hundreds of lakes around Orlando, and the rule of thumb is there is at least one alligator in every one of them. There were dozens in the big lake we lived on. I wouldn't swim in it, but lots of people did. The alligators mostly snatched small dogs. They can run fast on land for short periods. Florida has lovely weather in the winter, but I don't miss the alligators, snakes or bugs.

Since I heard on the news about the body being found "intact," I was wondering the same thing.

Intact= not damaged or impaired in any way...complete.

I just listened twice (two channels) and the officers clearly stated that they had "recovered the remains". Nothing was mentioned about the condition of the little boy's body, no mention of whether it was intact. A horrible thing to have happen to anyone. I am so sorry for this little family. They definitely deserved better.

I want to add that we live in S.E. Louisiana. There is a swamp about 200 yards from my front door. And yes, we have gators - some very big ones. They hang out on our golf course, as well as near the marina and around all the numerous waterfront areas. I am dumbfounded at how parents allow their children to run amuck in these dangerous areas, usually with little or no supervision. The subdivision (in a wave of total stupidity) even removed the 10 foot chain link fence from around the marina area, leaving the water completely open to children who wander down there. There has been talk of killing off the gators, but there are thousands around here - they were here millions of years before we came and they will be here millions of years after we are gone. People MUST learn to watch their children more closely, and teach them the obvious dangers near us.

Glad to know they recovered the body most likely relatively intact, and yes, I'm sure big changes at Disney World. Sometimes *everyone* learns the hard way 😔

LE will make sure their stories collaborate. It does matter.
