I put out 3 bags of food for the Stamp Out Hunger drive this a.m. before going out for the day. My mail has been delivered and the bags are still sitting. On line it says your mail carrier will pick the food up when he delivers the mail. What I want to know, will things like ketchup, mustard, canned veggies, PB, jarred spaghetti sauce, Chef Boyardeee and jarred apple sauce be okay after sitting out in 80 degree weather? I feel like I've wasted my money.

Almost the same thing here. However I placed our donation inside the mailbox as our weather has been horrid. Mail delivered, food left alone.

I received my card on Thursday saying the bag would be delivered on Friday to pick up groceries on Saturday.
Here it is Saturday and no bag.
I believe someone with USPS will pick up donations and not the carrier.

My mail carrier drives a larger panel truck. They took my bag and delivered my mail at the same time.
I did get a card in my mailbox, along with my mail, a few days ago reminding us to leave a donation of food. I did not get a special bag. I just put my cans in a Kohl's plastic bag that I had on hand.

When I lived in So. Cal. they sent a 2nd mail carrier truck around to pick up the bags.
One year they forgot. I called the Torrance P.O. and was asked if I could bring the donations. DH and I had done a huge shopping for this and had 8 bags in the trunk which we delivered.
The P.O. was so happy to see this and said someone called in "sick" (they said this with an eye roll) and had a sub driving around to get the bags.

I placed the bag out this morning and it was gone when I went to check the mail.
Maybe he will come back by your house on the way back.

@OKPrincess , it said on line that the carrier would pick up the donations when delivering the mail. The PO is closed so can't call them and on line USPS is no help nor 800#. I just wanted to know if what I left out for pickup is okay to eat after sitting out all day in 80 degree weather. I'd hate to give it to someone else if not safe.

We placed a shopping bag of food beside our mailbox and raised the flag. We have rural type mailboxes here in the mountains of New Mexico. The food was picked up by our regular postal carrier, and the flag was lowered.

No idea about what foods will go bad. Just wanted to add this. We have a private company that picks up our trash. We rent the BIG wheeled trash containers for our trash.
We have a regular weekly pickup of that trash. On 1 of our trash containers, a wheel came loose, still on, but loose. I called the company about this and they said they would replace it.
Now, it was not our regular trash pick up driver that brought the new container. It was a flatbed truck used specifically for things like this or similar. Where would our regular trash truck put the container? It wouldn't.
Maybe the USPS delivery drivers(assuming you are on a drive route), or an on foot postman put these bags of food?
Akin to our trash company, maybe this is the same situation. I have talked with our postmen many times while they are in their vehicles. There is mail filling the whole Jeep/Truck, vehicle. Where they would put bags of food? They would not fit.
Thought I would throw in some "food for thought" on this topic.

Our mailman, delivered our mail and moved our bag of food to the end of our driveway. Then he came around after delivering the mail and picked up the bag at the end of our driveway.
The bag was way too heavy for him to carry as he delivered the mail.
The food is delivered to the food bank at our church. So I was thinking that I could drop the food off tomorrow at church. The church has it now down to a science. Since the USPS has been doing it for a few years.
Today the volunteers at church get all the bags of food and next Saturday they organize into all the different categories.
