I always put the bar behind my groceries, whether there is someone behind me, or not.
It's just called common courtesy.
Some people have it.
Some people don't.

Not to mention sometimes there are not enough bars OR the bar available is too far up to reach.
For pity sake-people are stressed because of expectations. When we stop expecting people to do such a trivial thing, we save ourselves getting irritated.
Keep calm and put down your own darn divider bar.
We're not trying to part the Red Sea here. LOL

@Pearlee *sigh* I think you are a very nice person but your expectation resulted in your own frustration and inconvenience.
Wouldn't it be better to just place the divider down yourself? There is no law broken here.
It isn't about responsibitly (about a divider bar no less); it's just what is done-I see more people placing bars, as we do, behind their groceries vs. not placing the bar regardless of whether or not there is a person behind us.
It isn't the world according to me; it's just not something I find to be earth trembling.
We place the bar. You don't. Who ended up stressed?

I always put the divider behind my groceries on the belt. It is such a small courtesy. Why fuss and fume over whose "job" it is when the solution is so very simple and kind.

When my 4 yr old son & I went to a local grocery store when we lived in FL, we approached the Deli counter & 2 women who were at least 70 were fighting over "who's next". My son said, "mom, those are witches". They turned around & looked at me. I contained my humor; said I realize you both have a really tight demanding schedule, however, out of the mouths of babes. 'Nuff said.....

Sounds like a normal day at Walmart. Those motorized carts are a real nuisance when people who obviously don’t need them take them for joy rides around the store....they throw a few things in the basket and continue to go as fast as the thing will go...there should be bells on those things so you know they are coming. I have had some close calls with the maniac drivers of those things.
