Had to laugh- I thought you were talking about Passover! Do I sound desperate for Spring?

@Annabellethecat66 wrote:@Cakers3 Regarding your post. I think it would have come out by now if he'd have purchased the ticket (or someone else did for his benefit).
@Annabellethecat66 I was responding to this part of your post:
Like someone here said, he bought the ticket, he must have known his seat didn’t move back but the seat in front of him did.
My response is that the ticket is not an issue. We don't know if he knew that back row didn't recline. We don't know if it was a last minute purchase due to any number of circumstances.
You are assuming he could have bought a different ticket in a different row; we don't know if that was available to him.
You are misreading my whole post and I'm not going to keep explaining.

She did put the seat up for awhile.
Why should she have to keep the seat up because HE wants it up.
maybe she’s like me and is tired of the jerks who think they are special people.
@Annabellethecat66, maybe he didn't buy that particular seat. I book on United with their basic economy and I don't buy a seat. I take whatever seat I am assigned. The only exception to this is for what I consider to be a long flight. Last year I flew from Cleveland to San Francisco and I purchased an aisle seat.
Why does she think she's special and can recline her seat, infringing on his space? And why should he have to put his tray table up because she's being inconsiderate?

@Venezia, I just booked a flight on Southwest and was not able to choose a seat. You still have to check-in 24 hours in advance and are assigned a boarding group (A, B, C) and you take what seat is there when you board.
I'm going to be on a cruise and won't be able to check-in until a couple hours before the flight. We are going to be in the last boarding group and stuck in the back of the plane because it's already sold out.

@Gorgf wrote:@NicksmomESQ @Suziepeach I sat next to a teacher living in Russia going home to Arizona for his Grandfathers funeral on a 6 hr. plus flights. A four year old was kicking his seat off and on to get a rise out of this passenger next to me. He asked the Mother three times, after first asking if they could speak and understand English to get him to stop. She told us meekly she did all she could under the conditions to get her boy to stop that he was just bored etc. Then a remark was made about her lack of parenting. My neighbor was able to finally move after talking to the Flight Attendant.

I highly doubt, the 4 year old was kicking the seat, to, intentionally get a rise, out of the passenger. That's beyond the sophistication level, of most 4 year olds.
Kids of that age, still, have the attention span, of a gnat! The child was probably bored, restless, on a long flight, and maybe even uncomfortable. Air pressure can cause ear problems, for adults, it can really be miserable, for young kids.
Of course, none of that, makes it less annoying, for the other passenger. Too bad, Mom didn't have more distractions, for the young traveler.

@Kachina624 wrote:@Annabellethecat66. Good grief, if this genteel lady was aggravating this man so much, why didn't she raise her seat? Reclining was not necessary. It sounds as though she was enjoying the little scene and did every thing possible to escalate it, including video taping it. You can recline slightly without laying yourself in someone's lap.
@Kachina624 LOL I didn't know teachers couldn't fly off the handle. Considering she uses words like "jackhole".
All this what the attendant "should have done" cannot be proven.
From what I have been reading she was told not to video another passenger; you can video your friends/family but not strangers. Plus was her phone in compliance since they were in the air?
I think this will all go away; unless truly physically harmed, she is just holding up a finger to see which way the wind will blow.

@Lipstickdiva- Thanks for that info. I avoid Southwest because of their policies about this, but some time ago I read that they were going to allow passengers to pay a fee to choose a seat prior to boarding. Clearly it seems, it was never put into practice.
I wouldn't fly on an airline that wouldn't allow me to pre-select a seat, however low the fare. Do you know if you get assigned to the first boarding group by paying a higher fare? How do they decide who's in which group?

I have people recline on me all the time and never thought it was rude. I guess I always assumed it was fair game since it's available. Airlines just need to give people more space. People seem to be getting bigger and bigger. I often have people next to me spilling over into my space. That kind of annoys me, especially the guys who man-spread. Ugh!
The guy in question here sounds scary. There is no excuse for his behavior.

If the seats behind me were up against the wall and didn’t recline, I might move mine back a tiny bit but not all the way. To me, it would be rude to completely recline.
I was in a regular seat one time as food was being served(old days) The person in front of me reclined all the way. I caught my wine glass before it fell over.

@lovesrecess wrote:My BIL is 6’6” tall. He always requests the bulkhead seat...usually ends up sitting with someone who moves everything onto the floor in front of their seats rather than putting it underneath....so he has almost no more legroom than if he folds himself up like he must do in the other seats. Even first class isn’t spacious enough for his long legs.
I have never liked flying...and seeing videos of this grown man punching the seat of a passive-aggressive woman just gives me one more reason not to look forward to an airline trip. I think the flight attendant will be the sacrificial lamb in this incident.
When you are sitting in the bulkhead seats, you are not allowed to put anything under your seat. That area is for the person behind you. You also are not allowed to put anything on the floor in front of you. People use that space to walk through and it is against safety rules to have things on the floor there. It is an aisle. All personal belongings must be stowed in overhead storage.
I have sat in bulkhead many times. I am short, so I don't need the leg room and miss having my handbag or carry-on available to me. I do not like to stow my Bag where I can't see it at all times. I worry about my ID, CC and cash being stolen.
There would be no reason to have to fold up your legs in these seats. You probably have between 3 and 6 feet in front of you to stretch out.
The only other problem with these seats is that the tray is in the arm of the chair. That means if you are a bigger, wide person, you will not be able to open that tray up to use. Those seats work best for thin or average size people who have long legs.
