I get my second Moderna next week. After my first I had a sore arm but only with certain movements.
I know a few people who got side effects after their second Moderna shot but they didn't get them until 12-24 hours after the vaccine. They were mild and included body aches, headache, slight fever and chills. Nothing that a pain reliever and bed rest didn't take care of. Then they were fine the next day.

Thank you for the words of encouragement @Witchy Woman . With Easter coming, I planned a nice meal and want to be feeling well. We are planning a meal with our neighbor by exchanging care packages in her garage. If I'm feeling fine, then I'll have her come over and we'll eat in our sunroom and stay socially distanced.

It seems to go on an individual basis. I have friends of various ages who either had nothing but a sore arm, or they had various reactions, sometimes with one shot, sometimes with both. I personally had the Pfizer. I had no reactions with the first shot. Second shot, after 10 hours, I got a vice grip headache, stiff neck, and queasiness. That went away in about 3 hours, and then the next day, I was dead tired all day. After that I was okay. The 89 year old grandpa in my cul de sac had NO reactions whatsoever.

I do have a question for those who have mentioned itching in the arm, with the second injection, what did you use to deal with the itchiness or did you just deal with it?
@icezeus - I got "Moderna arm" though I had Pfizer vaccine. The arm occurred more in Moderna studies so it was named that but is really vaccine arm. You can use cool compresses and OTC cortisone preparation. I gave many flu vaccines when I worked and it is a common reaction. It's annoying but not harmful but can look awful. Mine came on day 2 after the vaccine but can come as late as 8 days after vaccination. Mine will be a week old tomorrow and though very light it's still there with one tiny spot the size of a dime which itches like crazy periodically. A small price to pay.
Thanks for the additional info. I have been putting a cool compress on my arm throughout the day which was mentioned in my take home directions. I have to say that this first dose has been non eventful which is fine with me. A little arm soreness, just like when I receive the flu shot and swelling.
As you mentioned a small price to pay.

I did not have itchies from the COVID vaccines.
But did have it after Shingrex. Pharmacist suggested a dab of Voltairn in it.
I know that is not what it is labeled for, but it really helped.

I am getting my second moderna in two hours. ![]()
The first caused a mild headache and a few mild chills in the first two days.
Then, after two weeks, I got the swelling, itching, golf-ball swelling and rash, but they cleared up after a few days. Except for keeping the arm clean, I ignored the symptoms.
I Googled "Moderna late rash" and apparently this isn't uncommon and is an immune system reaction (which is good) rather than being allergic.
After receiving it tonight, I'll keep my fingers crossed about tomorrow, because there's a certain amount of work I have to do then, but am so grateful to be almost vaccinated. I want to see some folks I haven't seen in a while!

@Burnsite You'll do great. My sister gets her 2nd Moderna tonight at 7:15.

The relative of mine who got an itchy arm had the Pfizer vaccine. So I think it can be a reaction for either shot.

Contrary to most, my first Moderna shot was absolutely miserable, I had side effects immediately after, a non-stop headache for 10 days when it erupted into two days of flu-like symptoms. The arm pain lasted over a week.
My second shot was a cakewalk - minor headache the day of.
