Ohio important? Hmmmm....who knew? Lol!

{#emotions_dlg.laugh} Can't you picture a bunch of confused--and politically uninformed--people typing, "why is Ohio so important?" {#emotions_dlg.lol}

Wouldn't it be great if Ohio was important in some other way? {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I don't know if it's politically uninformed ... every election, I wonder why the rest of the states bother to vote. We could just let Ohio be swamped with campaign ads, and leave the rest of us out of it. Which is sad.

Please...NO!!

Living here is unpleasant enough.

I'm surprised Huffpo would publish something like this. Especially with ME stereotyped as White. How racist! I don't see any states labeled as Welfare, Food sramp capitol of the U.S., black or Hispanic. NJ should be Expensive, not NH. This is clearly bias thinly disguised as humor.

Re: The Biggest Stereotype Of Every State In America In 1 Map

White could be referring to all of the snow in the winter. Smiley Happy

But anyway, why would it be.racist to state as fact the demographic of the majority of the population? It would only be racist, imo, if that were used either in a negative or positive way.

My understanding of these words is that they were the most common that came up during Google searches, so what do they really refer to.anyway? Could be anything.

It's interesting though, the first thought that comes into people's minds.

Re: The Biggest Stereotype Of Every State In America In 1 Map

I don't think White was referring to snow, as there would have been many more states labeled as such, but thanks for trying, LOL. A more obvious label for ME could have been lobster-related or one about the gorgeous scenery. It just hit me wrong for some reason...

it isn't huffpo that is "racist". Do you even understand how this map was compiled?

Re: The Biggest Stereotype Of Every State In America In 1 Map

The map was created by “mapsareamazing.com.” It wasn’t created by any of the publications -- they merely picked it up as just another story.

It’s based on the current facts of Google’s auto-correct. (Easy to see, just go there and type in “Why is [statename] so [spacebar]” and you’ll see what’s the most likely choice at this moment -- it’s going to change based on people’s most frequent searches.)

The map doesn’t tell us what’s true about a state -- it shows us the perception or impression of the majority of people who use Google. That’s really all there is to it.
