it's very still and beautiful outside tonight--not even one breeze and 5 inches of snow, on rooftops, my patio tables, and yards---lovely for a winter night

The "something nice" is you, (((sylviahomeatlast))). Have a pleasant night, sweet dreams.Smile

Here's a poem I always liked, and your words reminded me of it.

"Let us walk in the white snow
In a soundless space;
With footsteps quiet and slow,
At a tranquil pace,
Under veils of white lace.

I shall go shod in silk,
And you in wool,
White as white cow’s milk,
More beautiful
Than the breast of a gull.

We shall walk through the still town
In a windless peace;
We shall step upon white down,
Upon silver fleece,
Upon softer than these.

We shall walk in velvet shoes:
Wherever we go
Silence will fall like dews
On white silence below.
We shall walk in the snow."

(Velvet Shoes, Elinor Wylie)

dooBDoo--how lovely--it takes my breath away---as an aside, I love the image of sheep---the word"fleece" captures this beautiful calm winter night----at an appropriate time I have a poem called "The Sound of Blue"

I'm glad you like it. It's hard to tell, because my writing has suffered so much over the years, but my degree is in American and English Language and Literature, and I always loved poetry.

"The Sound of Blue" is a lovely title.

for a lot of years I attended a Poetry Conference at Westchester, Pa---(yes, QVC Westchester) there are major poets there and workshops, talks --I loved it--traveling across country is such an effort--when they send me info this year, maybe I'll go back--there is a small university there--the location--

That sounds wonderful, sylviahomeatlast. I'd love to know more about the poetry conference. Perhaps they now allow "virtual attendance" via Skype, or something like that?
