A huge local hospital system just let their CEO go...the system is losing money this year.
They have 10,000 employees - and out of that 1,000 are VPs or higher, averaging $150,000/year.
They have been laying off nurses like crazy - not laying off VPs.
They also advise in-patients have a family member stay overnight with them...to make sure they get proper care and attention.
They need MORE nurses and caregivers, less chiefs!

What a shame.
I remember many years ago I worked for a Fortune 500 company and they froze the wages of all the administrative, clerical and non-management staff. Yet the management continued to get their increases and had massive expense accounts.

The same problem exists in the school systems. Too many chiefs, not enough warriors.

I agree. A couple years ago my mom was in the hospital and her nurse was so overwhelmed because they had cut the staff and she had way to many people.

I live down the street from the children's hospital they own...the nurses and aides are worked to death. They laid off so many caregivers the remaining ones have to work mandatory overtime and are exhausted.
I know a nurse there - she says that the staff is at the breaking point.
To save money, they tried to hire a company that would read the radiology images in INDIA (and provide an interpreter so the local docs would get the diagnosis correct). There was a huge outcry and they backed down on that idea!

I worked for a media company selling advertising for 16 years - we had a 24 hour news station in our office we worked with. I managed the political business for the entire upstate region.
The stuff about workers vs. management was in the local paper this morning.
I started out as a social worker and ran federal block grant programs in the inner city and then ran two healthcare non-profits.
Now have my own political media consulting business....going back to work F/T on Monday after 3 months off.

Thank you.....I was really curious because you post so much information, and I was wondering where you get all your information from.
One more question....do you get to attend board meetings at any of these places, the different communities that hold monthly meetings, etc.?????
