My kids are in their 30's and both have multiple tattoos.  (daughter and son).   They are always trying to get me to get one and I have considered it.   Mine would be a simple breast cancer ribbon on my right ankle.  I am a 3 year breast cancer survivor (it was my right breast).  We may all go  together as they said they would get the same one.  It's just getting it past my husband!!  ( LOL )   Also  their generation all have them so I don't feel it at all effects employment or how they'll look when they're old.  At least they'll all be in the same boat!

I don't have any tatts and probably never will after seeing how much it costs to have them removed.Smiley Surprised

@Shorty2U-

You sound like a very cool grandma!

It took me years to even get my ears pierced-done by my roommate in college with an ice cube and needle!

I never wanted a tattoo and also the thought of instilling more pain when I didn't have to, just no.

I never liked them too much on others either until my youngest daughter got one in college.

A huge Harry Potter fan, she and her roommate got 2 ends of a quote from one of the movies. Her sister was kind of horrified and I wondered if she should (she's a nurse) but she got it on her lower leg, not very noticeable and I think it is really artistic and lovely-like the most elegant calligraphy. I think its the nicest one I've ever seen.

I think some of the arm bands are nice too.

I like that they tell a story and meaning but I do think a lot of them all over looks kind of dirty and mottled-I just want to scrub them off!

no tats for me. I'm not thrilled I have radiation tats, but I'm thankful I am well.

I once saw an older woman, bleached hair, wrinkles, wearing a tank top with a tat across her upper chest of a long stemmed rose.  I am sure it was pretty at one time, but it looked dead on the vine.  Even the color was turning brownish red.

Tatoos are a personal choice, but can limit one's career as in many healthcare settings they may not be visible.  Some people with dementia or mental illness react violently against those with visible "art."

If you like it, fine.  If others don't, that is fine also.

We had season tickets to the Phillies for many years. So went to alot of games. Saw alot of older men with tattoos. One man tattoos seem to be burned in my brain. He must have had muscles when he was younger. So at one time you could tell what the tattoo was. Well, he lost much of the muscle bulk. He had a wrinkled arm and a mess of blue ink. Could not tell what it was and it just made you notice his wrinkled arm. You saw other men is varying degrees of wrinkles and old blurry tattoos.

After seeing that, I had no interest.

I have one.  I have no desire to get another.

I'm not a fan of tattoos all over the body for me but some of the artwork I've seen is incredible.

I'm a senior citizen; as such, I've seen a lot of things come and go.  So, in addition about what tats will look when things sag, tastes in subject matter change, so many who get tats today may regret tomorrow.

I have one, wish I didn't.

It's not visible or obnoxious, it's something I designed actually but I'm not a tattoo person.

Did it on a whim.   So not like me.

I don't find them attractive on others.
