Re: September 11 Remembrance

9/10, today, was the end of life as normal for the entire world.

It surely changed my life and many others in ways we could never imagine.

Those who died that day never be forgotten

Re: September 11 Remembrance

Would it be tacky for me to fly the American Flag tomorrow the 11th?  I know we fly her on days to commemorate certain days and events but I don't know about this one.  My husband says no but I honestly don't know.

Re: September 11 Remembrance

I was listening to an easy music radio station, driving south on I75 heading into downtown Detroit for work. I heard them break to ABC news as I was exiting the freeway to head towards the parking garage. You know how you are caught up in getting your day started? I heard that the first tower had been hit but it was so off the wall, I thought my ears were playing tricks on me. I went into work, sat at my desk and people with radios on their desks started talking about it. Somebody had one of those small tvs at their desk and turned it on and started crying. After the second tower was hit, my employer made an announcement ovr that pa system about what happened and I remember wanting to run. Just wanting to run. We were let out of work, traffic was jammed up and I will never and I mean never forget the look on my parents faces when I got to their house. Feels like last week not 14 years.

Re: September 11 Remembrance

My handsome husband just reminded me that, while many of us were frozen in fear, many others were not.  I will also never forget the men and women of outstanding courage in the midst of chaos and evil...firefighters, police officers, first responders, doctors, nurses, military, search and rescue, clean-up crews, and ordinary people doing extraordinary things to help their fellow human beings.

[ Edited ]

So many heartbreaking stories. Loved ones lost. Lives forever changed and our country will never be the same. I was getting ready for work that day I was watching TV . They said The World Trade Center was hit by a plane. I thought pilot error . Then soon after the other plane hit this was no accident. Stunned, scared and the feeling the  loss of the security of my country is at stake. Then more planes one in DC and one in Pa down. It felt like that day our country would be destroyed. Where are we going to get hit next? Thinking then of the fear of the people in the Twin Towers and in Washington and the plane in Pa. Horrible. Then the building started to collapse. Who would have thought these buildings would ever fall. The terrible things that people saw that day will remain with them forever. Loss of love ones that the remains were never found. So many words unspoken to think what if. So many fortunate of the ones that worked there that were not in the towers that day. It was a time in life that all the small stuff means nothing. Family,friends and anyone close to you was all that mattered and you were thankful they were alright. I know some lost family and friends and the hurt will never go away. I know there is never words to describe your loss.  I fly my flag every day in remembrance.

@Puzzle Piece

Good question.  Handsome thinks we should keep ours flyin' high...the home of the free and the brave...we fear no evil.  But what about half-mast in memory of what was lost?  I wonder what the official protocol is.

Re: September 11 Remembrance

Always remember!!:

I am so sorry for those of you who witnessed this tragedy and those who lost friends and coworkers.   I am guessing that those images, sounds, moments are forever burned into your memories.

I was alone in my kitchen, as my DH had died one year earlier and at first I thought I was seeing a part of a movie when I turned the TV on.   When I realized what it was and saw the second plane video,  I felt such an awful fear.  For the second time in my life I felt truly alone and very scared.  I live in St. Louis county,  quite a distance away from NYC, DC and PA. and yet I can imagine the paralyzing fear that I felt had to magnified so much more for those who were in those places, not knowing if it was ongoing with more attacks coming to our country.

I feared for my/our country then and to this day I fear for it and remember those who lost their lives that day and in the days and years following.  I pray that none of us ever has to experience moments like that again and I thank those who try to keep us all safe and free.  God bless America.Heart
