I'll never forget where I was either. I was on my way to the Vet with my dog. My sister called me on my cell phone to tell me so that I wouldn't find out while i was there. My Vet's husband is a dentist, and she said that their office closed.

******************************
At home in bed. I got a call from my young daughter. She was in DC working on The Hill. They had CNN running in the office and they received their orders to take off their shoes and run, a plane was headed for the building she was in.
She was just a kid and had nowhere to go, her housing was closed off because it was too near the White House.
She and a friend helped a woman wandering who had been hurt when the Pentagon was hit. It went on like that all night, soldiers on the streets with guns and helicopters constantly flying above.
Her dad didn't go to work, we stayed home by the phone, waiting to hear from her. Thank God she had a cell phone, and that some kind soul with an open small business let her charge it up to let her parents know she was OK.

Oh wow twinsister! This is the image I, too, will never get over. All those poor people jumping. That was probably when I really broke-down.
"Frozen in fear" is the perfect description of how many Americans felt that day.
I was living in SoCal on 9/11...got that early morning phone call from a friend on the east coast..."Get up! The U.S. has been attacked!" Spent the day in a tearful, frightened fog, and the rest, as someone else noted, is history.
That day literally forever changed how I thought, felt, and looked at the world.
No, we will never forget.

>>>>>@MacDUFF, As I mentioned, my friend from highschool, after graduating, worked for a law firm, and as she told us...FROZEN IN FEAR! She rode her bike to work because of the traffic. She actually SAW the plane coming down.
That was the 1st time I KNEW what FEAR really meant, from my post #2.
I will never................
look at the world-ever- as the same.

i live in California and saw the second tower collapse. I saw people jumping and remembering being afraid for the country and sorry for all the people. Now what terrifies me is what is going on now today. Giving powers to a country that hates us. Haven't we learned anything in 14 years?

MacDuff, oh lord how vivid my memory is, a beautiful sunny day and I was sitting in front of my dresser curling my hair and putting make up on when the news started as breaking news. I called my children one on the west coast was still sleeping he had worked the late shift, and my other one living down south was getting ready to go to work. I know I sat in front of my TV for hours and hours even in my bedroom the TV was never shut off. The plane that went down in Pa flew over our area.
