Hard to believe that tomorrow is the 14 anniversary of that tragic day. I live in NYC so it was something I followed closely. I am fortunate that I didn't lose a loved one or friend that day. It pains me to see all the families that show up for the ceremony and the reading of the names of everyone that was lost that day. For some the 14 years haven't lessened the pain for them. I pray for all those that were lost and their families.

Re: September 11 Remembrance

I think about this horrific event quite offten.........and afraid something worse will happen again.  Just think 14 years ago today {this is what I think about on this day each year} how everyone that was killed was going on with their life today 14 years ago, making plans, getting married, haivng children, planning holidays and vacations, got engaged and just enjoying family and friends and they all had dreams...........14 years ago today they never knew they would die the way they died tomorrow.  It is more than I can think about at times.  I still hurt for the victims families.  SO we never know from moment if we will be here the next day.  I rememberance of all the lost lives and for their famlies still living.

@Jordan2,

I was just thinking about that, also- not more than 10 minutes ago.

"One of my friends who lived in NYC (14) years ago, was riding her bike to her workplace, within the city's busy commerical area, when she had seen the explosion 2 blocks away".  She is the only person, from my  hometown whom had relocated there, that I know of, who witnessed this.

I remember her sister telling me -"she just froze from shock"...not knowing what to do.

Never do I watch tv, especially the news that early, but for that day, I did have coffee and tv on for the weather, when I changed the channel-after the 2nd plane hit-....I had no idea what had happened until approximately 5 minutes. I remembered the 1st thing I must do was call my husband at work, then call my elderly neighbor, next door...To TURN ON THE T V.

I watched that news report all through the day...that was when I actually knew what the word "FEAR" was, and not knowing anymore than most others did.

I was so aware of just how innocent and trusting I had always been, from that day on.

Thank you for posting - 14 years tomorrow...9-11.

Re: September 11 Remembrance

September 11 always makes me feel uneasy.  can't believe it has been 14 years!

it was a beautiful, sunny,  clear day, perfect temps in the 70s.  i was on the highway taking a ramp onto another highway, driving to work when it was announced on the radio in my car, they just said a plane hit one of the Twin Towers.  when i arrived at work there was no sound except for at one of the admin's stations. we had no TV at my job so everyone was gathered around the one radio.

when the 2nd tower fell i was at my desk, on the phone with my then fiance who had the TV on. he broke down and his voice wailed as he watched in horror.  the sound went right through my soul.

Re: September 11 Remembrance

I was watching CBS this morning and Brian Gumball was reporting on the first plane hitting the tower. They were showing it live and the details were quite sketchy when out of the blue the second plane came in and hit the other tower. It was very confusing and then , sadly, Brian said it has been confirmed this is a terrorist act and that another plane had hit the pentagon. He also said at that time there were 11 planes in the air that were not accounted for. Thank Goodness there was actually only one more - the Shanksville plane.

It is something that should never be forgotten.

I was home in bed as the day before I had just finished my chemo.  I got a call from my husband who went in to work early.  He advised I turn on the television and keep informed.  Cancer, chemo, and now MY AMERICA WAS ATTACKED.  I immediately got up and got dressed.  Should my country need me, chemo, cancer and all, I wouldn't hesitate.

Re: September 11 Remembrance

I was at work here in Chicago. We were getting ready for an afternoon clinic (I worked for an orthopedic surgeon). Our nurse called from her house and told us to then on the t.V.  The rest is history. Just about all our patients cancelled that day. I called DH who worked midnights. He had just gone to bed. He didn't get much sleep that day.
