As you can see, the video has over 1 million views.

This dude is so bold...THAT’S the scary part.

Does anyone recognize if this was Mariano’s in Chicago?

The Reddit user who claimed to have captured the footage added

that the video shows the man's second attempt to covertly eat from

the hot bar. The witness claims to have notified security right after

the footage was shot.

The name of the grocery store was not reported, but one eagle-eyed

Twitter user claimed it was likely a Mariano’s supermarket in the

metropolitan Chicago area “based on the Vero coffee in the

background and their sushi station in the corner.”

Ha - he wanted a sample! I frequently see people sampling produce. That's no better than the soup guy, though less gross.

I never take food from those open bars, whether it's a supermarket or a restaurant. They're a formula for disaster.

I learned of this over the weekend from my daughters boyfriend. He knows I’m reluctant to go to buffets and supermarket self serve areas!

think I’ll continue to follow my instincts.

Yes....could be staged, but lets us know how easy it is for anyone to contaminate the buffet items.

Oh @sidsmom I live in the Chicagoland area and that quite possibly could be a Mariano's but to be honest the way these stores are set up I can't imagine an employee wouldn't be sprinting toward him as this is a very well run grocery chain and to be honest their soup bar is right in the middle of a main aisle. I am thinking/hoping that this is a staged photo op and shame on them.
