DD has worked in this law office for 25 years and you always have an exceptionally wild day now and then. It's the nature of the beast.

Yesterday she called about 11am and said, "heads up, I have no idea when I'lll be home tonight."  They had something to file by midnight and she just got an attachment to go through and redact stuff.  600 pages. Then the attorney had to go through the 600 pages in case changes were needed, plus other documents to do.

Upshot, she left the office a little before midnight and had an hour drive home. Her butt was dragging when she walked in the door.

I remembered all the h*llish days when I worked in a law office and was reminded I retired early.  It was my sanity or work.

I hear you, I liked my job in healthcare, but it was stressful. I did retire early, but worked per diem a few years after. One day I realized that I was angry most of the time, at that point I knew it was time to hang it up for good.

DH and I are thankful every day that we were able to retire in our mid 50s and now 20 years later still enjoying the freedom.

@QVCkitty1   I understand the being angry all the time along with frustrated and tired.

Doing real estate closings got busy and things would go wrong but being given divorces and custody at a new place was awful

I hated the constant fighting between clients and seeing the kids used a weapons against the other parent.

I'm so envious of those of you who are retired. I've got another year and a half to go and I CAN'T WAIT. The days seem to be going SO slowly now...

Re: Reminded Why I Retired.

[ Edited ]

I totally get it. My last job I would cry every Sunday thinking about going back to work on Monday. I was miserable. I hated the drive, the gossip, drama, the micromanaging, the work and the general bs that went on. When they transferred our positions to Atlanta and laid off those who didn't want to move 2,000 miles away I had a smile coming out of that meeting room. I have no desire to find another job ever, unless it's something I can do with animals and just for fun.

I so understand this.  Been working in the legal field for over 35 years.  Retirement is close, I think.  LOL

@Texasmouse    Hang in there.  I know it's hard when the end is in sight.

I got a calander and marked off the days.  If I could have done cartwheels going to my car when I left that last day I would have.

After a few days I realized my shoulders weren't hunched and tight and I was actually breathing instead of noticing I was holding my breath.

@CrazyKittyLvr2

Years ago I worked in a law office .... it was a rather large firm.  We had a fully staffed night shift!
