Re: Really Bad Storm Here In Va Tonight!

I'm in NoVa and last night's storm just put me to sleep. My dog was scared so he slept right next to my bed, which was nice as he usually likes to stay cool and sleep on the tile floor by the front door.

I was watching the lightning a bit before it started to rain and it was definitely active and dancing around the sky. Quite beautiful.

Re: Really Bad Storm Here In Va Tonight!

I also live in VA and just moved from a very rural area (it was about 9 miles from Culpeper out toward the Blue Ridge Mountains).  I lived in the middle of a virtual forest of trees and always cringed whenever there was a storm bc I was sure I'd have a tree come crashing down on the house - your reality was always my worst fear.  I'd moved there bc dad could not live alone anymore and it was close to siblings and knew I'd need help from them.  Just sold that home last week and I'm now living in an apartment back closer to N. VA for 9 months while I am waiting for a house to be built in an over 55 community.

With the extreme heat and humidity of late, seems we've been having thunderstorms most evenings about 6pm.  Lots of rain and heat lightening, not to mention thunder.  Dodged it last night when it appeared to be happening more north of us!

Stay safe!

Re: Really Bad Storm Here In Va Tonight!

in our area we ended up with 2 inches of rain in about an hour last night.

i always seem to be more worried about flooding than a lightening strike, but i know that lightening strikes occur pretty frequently at our substation that is not too far away.

I've lived mostly in N. VA in past till I moved to Culpeper area - that home sold and this time I went south.  I'm looking at Fredericksburg - they had Del Webb Celebrate, resales for Falls Run and there are plans for something eventually at Harrison's Crossing but last minute I "found" the Regency community there that had everything I LOVE.  I was rural before and if u were to come out of the complex and hang a right, it's all farm country and lots of wooded area.  Turn left and you are on Route 3 with all the shopping - kinda the best of all worlds.  My family wishes I'd have stayed a little closer to them but they said they are all adaptable - said they'll make wherever I end up work!

Well, if she didn't - then nobody would ever know, would they?

Hi, Annabelle:  I don't blame you for being concerned, after what you had previously experienced.  Hope everything turned out fine.
