There was a meeting with state officials, Hartford Latino community leaders, and the office of the Governor of Puerto Rico.

During this call the Representative from Puerto Rico made it very clear that at this point monetary donations are the best way to help immediately. They do not have the infrastructure in place to handle getting donations received, let alone stored and distributed safely. There are many relief agencies you can donate to but he asked to channel donations to this non profit set up specifically for Hurricane Irma which has now been overwhelmed by Hurricane Maria.

@sunshine45  that is great for those who want money to go only to PR. i mentioned the presidential connection to give that fund the benefit of their imprimatur.

I would think that the money donated goes in one big pot to help out everyone but I may be wrong.  Call Salvation Army as they do so much for people and see if they have something set up for Puerto Rico.

Hi @Katcat1

We donated for Florida and Texas right away, and for getting pets taken care of.  I want to do one I know will go directly to PR.

It's so upsetting that they lost everything and are running out of water.  I am guessing most of the milk for babies and formula is in powder form but there is no water.  The mothers must be so afraid.
