Steven Tyler's 'unexpected medical emergency' is being put down to a seizure.
According to a source at The Boston Globe, the 69-year-old was taken ill at Aerosmith’s show in Sao Paulo on Monday night and on Tuesday, he confirmed that he was seeking 'immediate medical attention' for non 'life-threatening' condition.
Steven has been advised against travelling and performing by medical professionals, and has subsequently cancelled his South American tour and returned to the States.
Friends and family are said to be 'very concerned' for the singer after his unspecified health issue came to light, last week.
The cause of the seizure has not be specified and it's not clear whether Steven received a diagnosis before his return flight.
Steven posted a statement on his official Twitter page on Tuesday in which he announced he was 'seeking immediate care' for undisclosed medical reasons.
The message read: 'Unfortunately, due to unexpected medical issues, lead singer, Steven Tyler, is seeking immediate care and has been advised by his doctors that he cannot travel or perform at this time.
'Therefore, the last four shows of the South American tour will be cancelled.'
Tyler added his own statement to the message, in which he assured fans he isn’t in a 'life threatening condition', but needs to receive immediate medical care in order to 'maintain [his] future performances'.

Wow, how many people would like to legitimately have the title "ROCK STAR" at age 69? High five and get well soon!

I sure hope he will be OK. I can really identify with his band and that particular type of music and music era. Also, it feels good knowing someone older than me (just a little) is still a rocker (like me)!

Glad it's not life-threatening.

Maybe this is his wakeup call to call touring quits and start enjoying the fruits of his hard labor all these years. He is a talented person and gives his all.... but now he needs to just take it easy for a bit.

Thank you for posting. I love Aerosmith and have seen them perform numerous times. They are one of the few bands that sound awesome live and I love Tyler's voice. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

The source of the seizure could be life threatening, it's wait and see.

What do you mean "not life threatening"? There is a reason for seizures . . . usually a serious medical issue. A seizure in itself can cause death. Take a CPR class to help those around you . . . you need to be more informed.
